Good news and updated website!

Okay, I have good news! I was offered contracts on two more books about Zorn!!! They are about Ral's brothers from Ral's Woman. One is called Kidnapping Casey and the other one is called Tempting Rever! I am very excited, happy beyond belief, and I promise you that I'll let you know the release dates when I get them. HUGE HAPPY DANCE going on around here!
.
I updated my website at www.LaurannDohner.com if you want to take a peek there. I also updated my works in progress page. I want to thank all the people who wrote to me to ask me if there were going to be more books following Ral's Woman. I promised each of you that I'd update as soon as I heard anything, which now I have. LOL.

The upcoming week and life as I know it. LOL

Okay, this week is getting better. I'm still sick but I'm breathing better so that's good. LOL. My fever is down. I'm recovering and I completely and totally give credit to my other half, my wonderful husband David, who has taken such wonderful care of me. He has done the cooking, the dishes, the laundry, and taken care of the kids all weekend. He ran errands, let me sleep in, and in general just took care of me. So... here's to marriage and great husbands who are SUPER TERRIFIC! I really lucked out 20 years ago when I met him. Can you believe that he STILL opens doors for me, holds my hand when we go places, kisses me the minute he walks in the door home from work, and cuddles with me on the couch? That's my hero, I mean husband. LOL.
.
On Tuesday is a MUCH awaited book I want to read is coming out. I bought my first ebook from this wonderful author after a friend of mine told me about this book she bought on line called Pack Challenge by Shelly Laurenston. I bought it, read it, and man was I hooked! On Tuesday she's releasing 'The Main Squeeze'. I'm really excited about it. LOL. So come Tuesday you know what I'll be doing. Reading! Her books are always special to me because it introduced me to the world of ebooks AND she's a really great writer.
.
And...last not but not least.... LOOK FOR UPDATES on my website probably this upcoming weekend. I have news!!! Really wonderful, great news!!! Nope, I'm not pregnant. The factory is dismantled forever there so you'll never hear that news from me. LOL. This is career news, relating to my book Ral's Woman, and that's all I can say now until everything is official! LOL! There's your big hints about my super great news and that's with an S!!!!

It's going to be a LONG day...LOL

Okay, I've heard about everyone getting sick but last night I was struck down with the nastiness. I have a slight fever today, a very sore throat, and no voice. Yes, no voice. (You can't see my 3 smaller children grinning, giving each other high fives, and gleefully giggling behind their hands at the concept of mom being unable to talk but I can see and hear and yes...they certainly are...LOL). My husband will smile, perhaps want to high five the kids when I'm not looking, but he's polite enough to hide his amusement (okay, at least usually) when I lose my voice. You see... I suck a charades. LOL. Two of our children are still learning how to read and write so notes aren't so good for the 5-6 year olds unless I want to tell them... See Joe run or Pat likes green. (oh is this going to be fun)
.
I wish all of you a happy Friday and a great weekend. I'm hoping that I get over this really fast and am grateful it's the end of the week because it means that come tomorrow morning my husband will be home to take care of the kids so I can try to sleep this stupid thing away. LOL.

What I'm up to this week plus nice pic to look at. LOL

I am half way through my latest WIP. Yeah!!! I had gotten stuck but this time I refused to do my normal, which is jump to another WIP for a few days and then come back at it after a break. Nope. I dug my heels in the next day and ended up doing an impressive Chapter and a half! I think I twittered at around 5,500 words but I kept going so I went to bed at around 7,000 words. Keep in mind that was about 14 hours (with breaks, eating, life...LOL) but I broke thru the block which was great.
.
Over the weekend I got 2 more great reviews for Ral's Woman so that was really awesome!!! I should update my website and add them but I already have 3 on there so I haven't. LOL. I kind of feel like it would be overkill. LOL.
.
I'm new to twitter and trying to figure it out. I admit it, I'm addicted. I read but I'm still hesitant to write anything on there and I only have a few followers who want to hear me so far. LOL. It's just such a cool concept and you can keep up with your friends and people you just are curious about so easily that how can it not be cool??? I signed up to follow some of my favorite authors and bloggers I like. I still need to hunt names up on a bunch of them but it's really cool because I get to see what they are working on, where they are in the WIP, they share some pretty funny links, or pictures, and it's just great because usually you're left in limbo about books a lot until they can make the official announcements. So... I decided I love twitter. LOL.
.
Now here's a question to people who do this. If I'm a member of twitter does that mean I'm considered a twit? LOL. Honest question. Couldn't they have picked a better name??? My oldest daughter was so happy to get me on there. She uses her phone to update hers. She told me how cool it would be for me to do this. I had to point out a few things like A) I don't know how to use my cell phone to text (nope...I don't...I can't even program #'s in and B) Where the hell do I go that I get so excited I have the urge to whip out my cell phone to announce it to everyone I know??? I can see that now. WHOO HOOO! I'm at school picking up the kids..... Wow, the grocery store has long lines....and don't you really want to know when some (insert bad name here) person cuts me off??? Uh...no. LOL.
.
The only way I can see this actually useful is if I were to snap photos of the kind of strange and weird people I sometimes run across at Walmart and want to share them. I think they have the People of Walmart site for that. LOL. I did see a young guy in there recently who looked like he couldn't decide between if he wanted to be a Vanilla Ice impersonator, Prince, or the lead singer of Flock of Seagulls. He just kind of mixed all three. I see tons of funny things at the 99 cent store. They need a website for that one. I'm terrible so it's probably a good thing I don't do that because I'd get into trouble. Good example? I found myself in line behind this big, mean looking biker guy in a 99 cent store not too long ago. He's full on bad ass. LOL. He might not have appreciated me snapping a shot of him with his cart full of condoms and warming lube. (I kid you not...I'm talking enough to last 3 active guys for a year!) And there I am with all the kid snacks in my cart, glancing at his, wondering... is he picking it up for a big wild party... did he just get released from prison and is really, really optimistic to make up for lost time... or maybe a bachelor party??? I was so tempted to ask but he didn't look like the chatty sort so I was just left to wonder. I wasn't going to risk annoying the nice biker dude with KILL etched across his knuckles. LOL.
.
Okay, I'm back to writing! I just wanted to update my blog! LOL.

Hi, my name is Laurann and I have a problem...LOL

Okay, it all started out so innocently. I needed a cool website and couldn't afford to pay someone to do those great backgrounds and pics that all the authors have up. Some of them are just....WOW! So... I had to teach myself how to build a website. Then I realized I needed it to look good so I took my paint program, went and bought some stock photos, and began trying to make 'cool' photos so my author website didn't look like my kids put it together for me. LOL.
.
What's the problem? See the picture above? That's 5 pictures put together (6 if you include that one is flipped so it's in there twice for the background pic). I am addicted now to messing with stock photos I buy to create pictures. LOL. The night before last I found a cabin picture I loved so I bought it and then proceeded to spend an hour removing a person, fixing the roof, the yard to clean it up and add grass, and narrowing the driveway that was too wide. LOL. My husband is tempting me by telling me about really cool picture software. UH OH! Can you imagine what I'd do with something besides the paint program that came with my computer??? I'm afraid! LOL. And I'm still not happy with the picture above. I want a clearer woman. She kind of looks blurry to me because I had to downsize her. Not that I can do much better with a simple paint program but if the hubby buys me the expensive picture program... watch out. I may never find the time to write! LOL.
.
So... my name is Laurann and I have a problem... I'm addicted to screwing with stock photos! LOL.

I just love Halloween and it's coming!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! Every year I look forward to it. The kids are young enough that they do the whole trick or treating thing and it brings back so many memories!
.
I am going to confess that I didn't stop trick or treating until, well, I think I was 19 the last time I donned a costume, took a bag, and went house to house. I am just under 5 foot 3 (just a hair) and was a small person until I had multi kids so in a costume... I could pass for a 10 year old boy if I wore something to hide my busty curves. LOL. While my days of trick or treating are over... taking the kids reminds me of those years of candy induced joy. Always a fond memory!
.
Now it's not just about the kids but do you see the picture above? That's Rock. He's a 5 inch gargoyle that I picked up at my local 99 cent store. Isn't he adorable? He's decorating my hutch on my desk where I currently sit and he's got a brother, Wings, that I also picked up. I didn't post a photo of him because I think Rock is cuter. Now I love Rock there, he's a cute little critter, but if I were to display him at any other time of the year... my family would urge me to go talk to someone. LOL. Of course he'll stay put for the rest of the year. I can always claim pure laziness of cleaning off my desk so he's got a permanent home on the shelf. That's how I kept The Incredibles (the movie) bank on a shelf, my Christmas bobble gingerbread women that are admiring Rock next to them, and all of my 'valuable collectible' shelf sitter flowers and fruits. (WINK). I just like weird things on my hutch. LOL. Now if I could only find a really great haunted house... but that's another matter and where I'd put it... I don't know...
.
Am I the only one though that loves Halloween decorations? I love to drive around and see what people do to their lawns and their houses. Displaying coffins by the rose bushes or hanging a corpse from the basketball hoop hanging over the garage door is just a riot. It's right up there with Christmas lights to me (I love seeing those too). Every year I pick up a new 'favorite' decoration and Rock was the winner this year. I hope all of you are having fun preparing for Halloween!

Ral's Woman got a new review!

A new review came out for Ral's Woman. I haven't found it on their website yet but it was in their newsletter - issue 160. Here's what the reviewer said!
.
.
Book Title: Ral's Woman
Author: Dohner, Laurann
Publisher: Ellora's Cave Publishing
Review Writer: Laura Scott
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Heat: H

Ariel has been stolen from Earth by a lizard-like race, the Anzons, in order to see if she is compatible to breed with their men. When they discover she isn’t, they decide to give her to the winner of a contest among another group of men, the Zorn, whom they have captured and are forcing to work as miners. Ral sees Ariel and wins the contest making her his woman. Ral is no brute and wants Ariel to accept him willingly so he attempts to learn everything about pleasing her. But once they escape the Anzons, will the people of Ral’s home planet ever accept her?

I was quite fascinated with the story Ms. Dohner tells in Ral’s Woman. The plot moves quickly and is very interesting with the three different races interacting. Ariel is a strong woman who is initially very frightened by what is happening to her but shows a great deal of resilience in dealing with her changed circumstances. Ral is both human and alien enough to make him quite fascinating to read about, especially with the different sexual customs in his world. Once Ariel realizes that Ral wants to bond with her permanently, she opens up and shows him a few human tricks that definitely have his eyes rolling in the back of his head. I also enjoyed that the conflicts Ms. Dohner puts in their path were dealt with by them together and did not create a lot of artificial melodrama and fights between them. The lovemaking is both tender and adventurous as they explore the possibilities. Fans of science fiction romances will definitely want to pick up Ral’s Woman.

It's the begining of the weekend!

I love the weekends! I know I've mentioned this before but I have 4 kids and 4 cats (blame the 4 kids for the 4 cats - I'm a sucker and can't say no to cute little animals ) but luckily I also have 1 terrific husband. Every Friday night he comes home and takes charge of them so that I can put on my headphones and write. No interruptions of any kind! It's like every Friday evening is the start of a mini mom vacation for me. LOL.
.
So to everyone... have a great weekend! I hope you get to kick back, relax, and get a little mini vacation from work, stress, and anything else you want to pull your hair out over during the weekdays. LOL.
