Wrath is coming soon! SWTWC is in print too.

Hello to everyone reading my blog. I hope that your weekend was fantastic and that your week is going smoothly. I’m still recovering from back to back colds. It’s the down side of having kids who go to two schools. They bring home different colds...and we did teach them to share rather well. LOL!

Wrath is coming out March 6th on Kindle and B&N. It’s hitting Ellorascave on March 7th. Shortly afterward, it will be loading at other vendor sites. Yippee!

Something Wicked This Way Comes - Volume 1 came out in print this week. Have I mentioned how blessed I feel to be a part of these anthologies? More of them will be coming but I don’t know the dates of release yet.

I want to apologize for getting behind on emails and responses. Buying a house has been time consuming. We’re moving to Nevada from California so it’s a bit of a drive back and forth. We’ve had to go to Vegas twice in a matter of a few weeks. We won’t have to return until the house closes. Let’s just say I’m going to be relieved when we’re all moved in and settled. It has cut into my writing time but once I get my office all set up...I’ll more than catch up. I’ll have a door I can close and just write without interruption or distractions. I WILL post pics once I get my office all set up.

I finished updating and fixing Tiger. It’s going to be sent in first thing in the morning. Yippee! I had to do a lot of rewrites on it and added quite a bit of word length to it. It took longer than I planned because of that, these colds, and the trips I’ve taken. Now I can move on to working on Sky (Cyborg Seduction series) and finishing Cousin Brand’s story from Mating Heat. I plan to write a Raines book too. I have one that is half done. I never work on just one book. I’ll spend hours of my day writing in one series, then the rest of it on another. Sometimes I’ll spend a few days on a series...yeah. I’m a mood writer, I write by the seat of my pants (I’m not a plotter when I write books), but the up note is I never suffer from writer’s block this way. If one book stumps me...I switch and work on another...then come back at it after taking a break. It works for me.

I’ve gotten a lot of emails. I keep debating on adding a ‘frequently asked questions’ page on my website. I just haven’t had time to do it. I’m writing. LOL! I’ll answer some of them here. I haven’t done book trailers recently because I do them myself and haven’t had the time. Once I catch up on the books where I want to be...I’ll probably spend a week just making trailers to catch up where I should be on them as well. What is the best advice I have for aspiring authors? Write. Don’t give up! Write because you love to do it and only write stories that you really love. Do I have any trouble coming up with book ideas? Um. NO! I get hit with them daily. Often. I can’t write them all, there are too many, but the ones that stick in my head are the ones that end up in books. I will daydream about a character, get obsessed, and that’s the winner of my muse! I get asked about New Species characters and people send me pairing suggestions often. LOL. I’m going to be totally honest. I know the advanced storyline of them for quite a few books forward. I really appreciate the suggestions though but any characters that you’re meeting...their books are already written, at least partly.

Mr. Laurann and I hooked up all my old computers to check what files were on them and there were...a lot of partially written books. So many that I’d forgotten I’d even written them. It has been some years, in my defense, but yeah. A LOT of them. I used to write a book and I’d end up writing at least a few chapters of about every character mentioned so I’d know where I wanted his or her story to go. LOL! I’m still guilty of doing that. I have partials for the Raine brothers. For Mating Heat. Zorn. Cyborgs. A TON of them for New Species. LOL. I just have to finish them. I’m writing as quickly as I can. Sometimes I finish them out of order so they sit. Drake Raine’s story is one of those. It’s mostly done but I want to finish Ryder’s story first. To keep the timeline. Drake’s story though gripped me and yeah...I wrote most of it since I got obsessed with him. Deviant from Cyborg is another book that is mostly finished. I got obsessed despite Sky’s story coming first. I’m always writing. I just wish I could train my brain to write in timeline order! LOL! But they will all get done and turned in as quickly as possible. I love to write and boy am I happy! LOL!

My other project is gearing up for Romanticon this year. I hired a graphic design/cover artist to do some things for me for promotional items to pass out at the book signing. She’s super talented!!! (WickedSmart Designs). For those of you unable to attend, I’ll do some contests!

I hope everyone has a great week!

  1. Thanks for the update Laurann. I have pre-ordered Wrath from Amazon and boy am I eager for the delivery. Here's hoping the move isn't too stressful, (so glad it isn't me, LOL).

  2. Wonderful to hear everything you have going on. It seems like you are busier than busy, but things are going well. I feel your pain on the colds; I have 2 kids so I spent the ENTIRE month of November sick with the cold and flu. It certainly saps your energy. As much as I'd love to hound you for more releases, we'll just have to be patient, I guess! Can't wait to see what the graphic designer comes up with for your stories!

  4. Awesome to hear the writing is going well and I am so excited for Sky's book.

But why does Wrath come out a day later at Elloras Cave? Shouldn't the book come out at Elloras Cave first and then be released on Kindle?

  5. Thank you. The graphic artist did an amazing job putting together two New Species pictures for me. I'm currently staring at them since I had them printed out and hung them on my desk (wall of the desk hutch next to my monitor).

Anon - You could write Ec and ask them. I'm assuming it's a scheduling thing. EC has books scheduled for certain days of the week. I know Kindle/B&N puts my book releases out on Tuesdays. I think (don't quote me because I could be wrong) but I remember my new releases at EC have all come out on Wednesday and Fridays in the past. My print books have come out on Mondays at EC from what I remember.

I think that would be a good idea about the frequently asked question section to your page.it would save you some time answering questions lol!

I'm so glad you are getting over your colds and your move is almost happening. I'm so happy that you never get writers block lol that so great for your avid readers :)

  10. Will some of those promotional items include poster-size copies of your book covers? (Slade, Brawn, Steel, Ral - yummy!) Don't know exactly why, but the cover for Slade strikes a chord with me....

  11. Catwoman, I had the large postcards made of the covers. They are about 8 1/2 by nearly 6 inches in size. They really came out great. There are magnets for the covers too.

    2. Are they just for the romanticon ? or is it possible to find magnet and postcards elsewhere ?

  12. Hope you enjoy being a California transplant too. I moved high up in the mountains of Nevada in 1996 and love it. One of the best things about being a Nevada resident is no state taxes, you only have to file Federal. :D I love going down to Vegas for shopping during the winter, it's kinda like a mini-midwinter summer vacation for me. LOL! Congrats on the new house.

  13. Catwoman, LOL! With all the authors at Romanticon and all the swag that is put out...you could probably cover every inch of your fridge with cover magnets!!! I have quite a few on my fridge. You should see the looks I get when people come inside my house. LOL! I have my book covers on the walls and yeah...the fridge is covered both along the front and the sides that are showing.

Coco - Just have one made. I am running a contest around Romanticon time for giveaways. : )

Nettie - LOL! Good excuse. It doesn't work for me though. I have them ALL over the place but I haven't lost any weight yet. I'm sitting too much but I haven't gained any either so that's the GOOD news! LOL. I have to start that diet soon though...grrrrr

Naomi - Thanks! I've lived in NV before quite some years ago in Reno. The funny part is I don't gamble. At all. LOL. Probably because I did live there and they had a gambling addiction group from the nice gated complex I lived in. I'd hear the horror stories so yeah...NOT big on gambling!!! LOL!!!

    1. Laurann-LOL!!!!! I know what you mean about sitting too much (granted you are sitting more than me with all your writting!!!). Im a family/children/newborn photographer...where i spend up to 30 hours editing each session at the computer. My butt hurts! Hehe

    2. Laurann - Can't stand to gamble either. I consider it a waste of my money. I would rather pick up a gallon of milk, or a nice ebook to read. LOL! I live in white Pine County in a tiny little area called Ely. We are literally in the middle of nowhere. Salt Lake and Las Vegas are 240 miles away, Reno is about 350, and Elko is 180 it's Walmart being the closet. So if I want to do shopping it is online or a day long trip out of town. Hope your move goes smoothly.
