December is here, the end of this year

And what a year it has been!!! I can't say it's been a bad year. Actually, it's been one of the best years of my life. No one in my family as been really sick and no reported deaths (LOL). I not only got my first book contract... but then was offered some more contracts for upcoming books so WOW. I would like to thank so many people but this blog isn't that long. Mostly I'd like to thank my husband David for always being the wonderful man he is, Ellorascave for giving me a chance, my editors who took me on, my friend Valerie for catching what I miss, and all my old and new friends that I appreciate to the bottom of my heart. Of course my family... it goes without saying.
.
December is always hectic for me. 4 kids, need I say more??? LOL. I usually shop online all year long, by November I'm one of those people you love to hate because I can announce I'm done with my X-mas shopping but not so this year. Nope. I'm shopping now and facing Walmart, Toys R Us, Best Buy, Target, and Big Lots head on. I've done some shopping over the past few days and I've done pretty well. I really scored at Big Lots. I LOVE them. My goal is to be done by December 15th because that's when shopping in stores gets to be so frantic with way too many people crammed into stores. Hell hasn't frozen over yet so I'm still avoiding the malls. I say that every year since that one fated MALL year. I still have nightmares. I swore up and down NEVER to enter one again to shop there after Thanksgiving. I need a T-shirt saying "I survived the Mall". It was about 7 years ago, there were brawls and everything and my friend and I ended up against a wall praying we'd just make it out alive. LOL. We made a pact... Hell will freeze over first before we attempt this again... and it hasn't so we avoid the malls from Thanksgiving to January 5th just to be safe. LOL.
.
I have to clean up the house, put up the tree, decorate, and finish off my shopping... and then I can relax... and just write. I hope all of you have a painless, safe shopping experience and if you venture into malls... be safe, avoid 'instant sales' and if you see a bunch of people rushing to a store... run the other way!!! LOL.

  1. Oh Laurann, you are much more organized than me! I've put up the tree (minus quite a few decorations thrown out the year before) so I have to go decorating shopping, present shopping and everything in-between! I have this image of me leaving *everything* to the last minute!

  2. Mel, If I were better organized I'd be done by now. LOL. I don't know if you have 99 cent stores where you are but that's where I buy most of my decorations. I hope you don't hit last minute shopping. Get motivated and hit those stores fast. LOL.

  3. I'm about halfway DONE with the shopping. Made a few on-line purchases and did some shopping during sale time at the end of summer. We'll head out this weekend and try to wrap things up, I think.

  4. Regina, I hope you get it done! I still have to think up something for the parents. LOL. I'm thinking maybe something personal with a photo of the grandkids... That's all I can think up. LOL. They have everything. Good luck shopping and be safe. Maybe it's just California that has nutty shoppers but it can get dangerous here. LOL.
