Wrath and Tiger...and my crazy life! LOL!

If you missed this info - Wrath is being released March 6th at Kindle and B&N. It’s coming out at Ellorascave on March 7th. Other vendors are to follow but I don’t know the exact release dates for other places. Sorry. I get asked a lot and I just check sites like Allromanceebooks on a daily basis (or my email since they are awesome enough to send me an email every time to let me know it’s been added). I post it on facebook when I know.

Tiger has a cover. Isn’t it awesome? I love this one. Heck, I love them all. I’m totally feeling the book cover love from the wonderful Ellorascave cover Goddess. I get asked a lot if I pick my covers. No. I do however get to fill out cover request forms and let them know what I’d like to see on them. I don’t know who all the models on my covers are. Sometimes they are Ellorascave Cavemen (cover models). Those are some really fantastic men. I’ve been lucky enough to meet lot of them at Romanticon. I don’t have a release date yet for Tiger but I’m VERY hopeful for sometime in April.

I have a ‘to write’ list. I plan to finish and/or write books for all my series. Cyborg Seduction has stories coming up. Mating Heat has stories coming. Riding the Raines will have more books. Zorn will have Vhon, Coto, and Vinlotti’s stories. I don’t know the titles of the books yet. There are a lot of New Species books, plus there’s a few of them have already been written. I just am shelving those two finished books until I write a few new ones so the timeline of the stories fit.

The thing about me is...I always say I’m a mood writer. That’s so true. I also write more than one book at a time. I never have writer’s block because if one book holds me up...I can always work on another. Lately my muse has been...mischievous. Yeah. That’s the word I’m going with. I could think of others but stubborn, misbehaving, and difficult don’t sound as charming. I keep telling it that I have an ORDER of when I want to write certain books. I remind it that people are waiting for those books. I even lecture it about how schedules should be kept and mentally point to the list I made of what books I want to finish next. My muse...keeps obsessing where it shouldn’t be. It’s daydreaming about books not on that list or out of order. It’s reading where I left off on a book I NEED to finish...and another character is taunting me from another book as if it were standing on my keyboard. GRRRRR!

I was talking to an author friend and she said maybe I need to back up in the books and that perhaps I took a wrong turn and that’s why I haven’t finished the stories yet. That perhaps I don’t love what I’ve written and that’s the reason for why I’m so torn. I read the stories on my ‘to finish this month’ list and nope, that’s not it. I LOVE the stories. OMG. Wait until you read the beginning of Cousin Brand’s story. I laughed so hard I hurt stomach muscles. There are scenes so hot I fogged up the monitor with my heavy breathing. I don’t know what you or my editor is going to think but um, I LOVE Brand’s story. Sky? Scorching. He’s irresistible with his gray hair, light blue eyes...deep voice...and his love of everything human including the way he’s picked up all those sayings from Earth that drive his fellow Cyborg pals nuts. I love Sky. Then there is Obsidian (880 from NS). He’s taunting me. He’s standing on my keyboard growling and flashing sexy fangs. Like ‘HELLO!!! I’m right here and I won’t be denied!” He’s even taking off his shirt to get my attention. He’s got that waist long jet-black hair too. If he starts dancing...yeah. I’m a goner! LOL.

So...to make a long story that probably sounds a bit crazy...short...I’m trying really hard to concentrate on all three of them. (Welcome to the insane world that totally is normal for authors) Sometimes Ryder shows up with a grin and a wink. He plays guitar and he’s hot...in my defense. I spent last night with him and his story. MY BAD! He isn’t scheduled this month...or Obsidian. Yet...I’m spending time with them. They are distracting me from Brand and Sky. I keep telling my muse they should all strip off their shirts and wrestle for it. I’ll play the very watchful referee and winner takes the whole month of my imagination but um...that’s the bad thing about writing dominant badass types. The fight would last forever and they all refuse to lose. (Did I just type that out? Whoops. I probably shouldn’t admit that I actually picturing that wrestling match...a lot...LOL!)

I’m trying very hard to write their stories in order but my schedule is quickly turning into a useless paperweight on the corner of my desk. Order? What’s that? It’s chaos! Sexy, tempting, taunting bedlam where characters are distracting me away from each other. I’m trying to keep my muse in line. I offered it chocolate despite being on the dreaded diet. It hasn’t fallen for it yet but I have high hopes! LOL. My answer to dealing with this is to put in more hours to divide my time between all of them. I’m mentally chaining myself to my desk. The books are going to get done but I can’t promise the order they will be coming out. I don’t exactly write fast but I put in a LOT of hours. I’m just going to add in another ten or twenty hours a week thanks to my muse being so obsessed with so many stories currently. This is one of those times I’m very grateful to suffer from insomnia. LOL!

I’m going to ask Mr. Laurann update my website soon. He’s in charge of that now. He’s wonderful but extremely busy since he’s dealing with everything to free me up to write more. I’ve felt too guilty to ask him to do that yet since not only is he wrangling the kids and the home but he’s dealing with the stuff about our new house we are buying. Did I mention he’s AWESOME? He totally is. He even lures me away from my desk to watch Doctor Who and cuddle with him when I’ve spent way too much time writing.

Hello to everyone reading my blog. I hope that your weekend was fantastic and that your week is going smoothly. I’m still recovering from back to back colds. It’s the down side of having kids who go to two schools. They bring home different colds...and we did teach them to share rather well. LOL!

Wrath is coming out March 6th on Kindle and B&N. It’s hitting Ellorascave on March 7th. Shortly afterward, it will be loading at other vendor sites. Yippee!

Something Wicked This Way Comes - Volume 1 came out in print this week. Have I mentioned how blessed I feel to be a part of these anthologies? More of them will be coming but I don’t know the dates of release yet.

I want to apologize for getting behind on emails and responses. Buying a house has been time consuming. We’re moving to Nevada from California so it’s a bit of a drive back and forth. We’ve had to go to Vegas twice in a matter of a few weeks. We won’t have to return until the house closes. Let’s just say I’m going to be relieved when we’re all moved in and settled. It has cut into my writing time but once I get my office all set up...I’ll more than catch up. I’ll have a door I can close and just write without interruption or distractions. I WILL post pics once I get my office all set up.

I finished updating and fixing Tiger. It’s going to be sent in first thing in the morning. Yippee! I had to do a lot of rewrites on it and added quite a bit of word length to it. It took longer than I planned because of that, these colds, and the trips I’ve taken. Now I can move on to working on Sky (Cyborg Seduction series) and finishing Cousin Brand’s story from Mating Heat. I plan to write a Raines book too. I have one that is half done. I never work on just one book. I’ll spend hours of my day writing in one series, then the rest of it on another. Sometimes I’ll spend a few days on a series...yeah. I’m a mood writer, I write by the seat of my pants (I’m not a plotter when I write books), but the up note is I never suffer from writer’s block this way. If one book stumps me...I switch and work on another...then come back at it after taking a break. It works for me.

I’ve gotten a lot of emails. I keep debating on adding a ‘frequently asked questions’ page on my website. I just haven’t had time to do it. I’m writing. LOL! I’ll answer some of them here. I haven’t done book trailers recently because I do them myself and haven’t had the time. Once I catch up on the books where I want to be...I’ll probably spend a week just making trailers to catch up where I should be on them as well. What is the best advice I have for aspiring authors? Write. Don’t give up! Write because you love to do it and only write stories that you really love. Do I have any trouble coming up with book ideas? Um. NO! I get hit with them daily. Often. I can’t write them all, there are too many, but the ones that stick in my head are the ones that end up in books. I will daydream about a character, get obsessed, and that’s the winner of my muse! I get asked about New Species characters and people send me pairing suggestions often. LOL. I’m going to be totally honest. I know the advanced storyline of them for quite a few books forward. I really appreciate the suggestions though but any characters that you’re meeting...their books are already written, at least partly.

Mr. Laurann and I hooked up all my old computers to check what files were on them and there were...a lot of partially written books. So many that I’d forgotten I’d even written them. It has been some years, in my defense, but yeah. A LOT of them. I used to write a book and I’d end up writing at least a few chapters of about every character mentioned so I’d know where I wanted his or her story to go. LOL! I’m still guilty of doing that. I have partials for the Raine brothers. For Mating Heat. Zorn. Cyborgs. A TON of them for New Species. LOL. I just have to finish them. I’m writing as quickly as I can. Sometimes I finish them out of order so they sit. Drake Raine’s story is one of those. It’s mostly done but I want to finish Ryder’s story first. To keep the timeline. Drake’s story though gripped me and yeah...I wrote most of it since I got obsessed with him. Deviant from Cyborg is another book that is mostly finished. I got obsessed despite Sky’s story coming first. I’m always writing. I just wish I could train my brain to write in timeline order! LOL! But they will all get done and turned in as quickly as possible. I love to write and boy am I happy! LOL!

My other project is gearing up for Romanticon this year. I hired a graphic design/cover artist to do some things for me for promotional items to pass out at the book signing. She’s super talented!!! (WickedSmart Designs). For those of you unable to attend, I’ll do some contests!

Sorry for the delay in a new post. I’ve been writing, getting over a cold, and we are buying a house. LOL! Yeah, it’s been SUPER hectic in my world and I apologize. I try really hard to keep everyone updated but I have just been swamped lately.

Wrath is available for pre-order at Kindle and Barnes & Noble for a March 6th release. The excerpt for it is up at Ellorascave - where it will release the next morning on March 7th. It will hit other vendors around that time as well.

We got our house!!! Our bid won and now it’s all about paperwork and we are taking another quick trip to Vegas this week to be there for the inspection before it closes. The younger kids are SO EXCITED to get to see their soon to be new home!!! I’m taking my video camera, my tape measure, and my picture camera since we have to buy furniture. I’ll be glad when this big move is over. Mr. Laurann is handling most of this stuff so I can concentrate on writing. Isn’t he awesome??? He is my official house hunk now. That will leave me more time to...write! AWESOME. I have so many projects to finish and get started on....yeah. And having my own office soon is going to help too. I’ll be able to shut the door, put on my headphones, and just concentrate on finishing the books. I’m going to catch up on where I wanted to be with ALL of my series by the end of the year. HUGE thank you to Mr. Laurann for being such an amazing husband and father. And now...my hero at home.

In other news...Slade came out today at Ellorascave in print. That’s two New Species books now. Fury is already out in print. More of them are coming. I’ve gotten a lot of requests for them in print so GOOD NEWS!!! Here is the Ellorascave link, Kindle, and B&N.

I’ve gotten a ton of emails asking about the #8 and #9 book in the New Species series. I haven’t released the names. I didn’t do it at first because I wanted to get approval for their names. Some of the NS names have already been changed due to overused name issues. I read the books and realized...I need to write a few books to sandwich in between them. I have the partials for those stories but I hadn’t finished them. I’m going to do that and put them out before #8 and #9 to keep the timeline right so it goes from one story into another. One of them will be 880’s story (the Species in the coma from Brawn’s story). I write in my spare time for fun. Yeah. I have been tweaking the partial I had for him and have already added about four new chapters. That will probably be the one after Tiger. His name is Obsidian. (That name was approved!)

I’m going to work on Zorn this summer. I’m scheduling for that. It’s my first big project I plan in my new office!!! I’m writing all three of them at the same time the way I did Touching Ice, Stealing Coal, and Redeeming Zorus for the cyborg series. I need to write them together because they are linked. Lots more books are coming and now I can get back on track thanks to Mr. Laurann being home so I can just write, write, write!!!

A great start to the new year and a new cover!!!

I got the cover for Wrath! (919 in Brawn's book). I don’t have an official blurb yet or release date but it shouldn’t be too long. I wanted to take the time to thank everyone. Brawn hit the New York Times Best Seller list and USA Today!!! I’m still in shock, honestly. VERY COOL!!!

In other news...I’m behind schedule. I didn’t mean to get this way but between Christmas, us leaving town for a few days to go house hunting, and getting sick...yeah. I’m behind on where I wanted to be with other books. More are coming though. I should be turning in Tiger really soon. I’m working on books from my other series!

As I mentioned, we went house hunting. I work a lot of hours and my current office is 1/3rd of my living room. When we bought our current home I hadn’t known I was pregnant (it was a great surprise eight years ago and we have a beautiful son) but we suddenly needed more room. We’re cramped, only one bathroom, so we’re buying something bigger. I’ll get my own office, the kids won’t have to share rooms, and it will have more than one bathroom! LOL! We did two frantic days of viewing houses, found one we REALLY LOVE, and placed a bid on it. We’ll find out this week if we got it. Fingers crossed. It has a pool on top of all the space so Mr. Laurann and the kids are pretty excited. I could do without the pool but I know what it’s like to care for one. LOL! No skimming for me. That was the deal! LOL! They get the joy of fishing out dead bugs. I hope they enjoy that. LOL!!!

Other than that...I’m just writing. I know for the new year we’re suppose to make resolutions. All I want to do this year is write books, lose some weight, and spend more time with my family in a bigger house! LOL! Moving will be a nightmare, we have accumulated a lot of stuff, but it will be totally worth it. We’re getting something three times the size of our current home. I can’t even imagine. Honestly. The worst part? We have to buy furniture. I don’t have an interior decorator bone in my body. I have a really bad feeling everything I pick is going to be black. LOL. It will match but yeah...I’m hoping my friends with great taste are going to visit and SAVE ME! Or that Mr. Laurann has been hiding his interior decorator side from me all these years and it will suddenly show up when we’re wandering aimlessly around furniture stores. My other big ‘look forward to’ is Romanticon! Mr. Laurann and I are going in October.

I’ll post as soon as I have a release date for Wrath!!! I love that cover. Again, I want to thank everyone. I couldn’t do what I do without you, Ellorascave, and my family.

First, the good news! I got a surprise gift by being nominated in a few categories for the

Cupid and Psyche Awards (CAPA) from The Romance Studio. What are they? Click on the heart below and it will take you directly to their site. I am really feeling blessed to have been nominated!!! Touching Ice made it on the list in Fantasy Romance. His Purrfect Mate AND Valiant were nominated in the Paranormal Romance category!!! And...I'm one of the authors listed in the Favorite Author category. VERY COOL!!! The winners will be announced on February 14th, 2012. I wanted to congratulate all the other people nominated, it's an honor to be included, and it just made my day. : )

We're just DAYS away from Brawn's story coming out!!! To recap - it's the 5th New Species book and it's available for pre-order at AMAZON and B&N. It releases at both places on Dec 27th. It will release at Ellorascave and other vendors on Dec 30th.

It was so fun to write Captain of Nara's Heart. There are three more volumes coming (I don't have the release dates yet) but it was so fun writing the stories for all of them. I feel really blessed to have been a part of the anthologies with so many wonderful and talented authors. I can't wait for the next volumes to be released!!!

Now...last but not least...Happy Holidays everyone!!! This is the time of year we all look back, go over the ups and downs in life for the past 12 months, and make resolutions for the new year. I've had a fantastic time. Honestly. It's been...AWESOME! The highlights were spending time with my family, writing and working on the books I have, going to Romanticon, and just having the amazing people in my life that I do. I've gotten a ton of emails from people, all so supportive of the books, and on Facebook. Thank You! I couldn't do what I do without all of you. I'd still be writing, I love it that much, but I wouldn't be doing it near as much or having this amount of FUN!

What's my resolution for 2012? MORE BOOKS! Zorn Warriors, Riding the Raines, Mating Heat, Cyborg Seduction, and New Species. You'll be seeing books for all of them!!! I just finished cleaning up Wrath (6th New Species and preparing to submit it. Tiger will be next). The remaining 3 volumes of Something Wicked This Way Comes anthologies will be coming. I might even have a surprise for you this summer if I can catch up on my 'to write' list...and finish my 'secret series' I've been working on in my spare time. HOT! Promise! LOL!!!

Mr. Laurann and I are going to get to spend more time together. He's going to be taking over my website updates and find a new method to get updates out (I'll tell you more about that later since he hasn't worked on it yet...). That will give me more time to WRITE! Whoo Hooo!!! We're also going to be moving in 2012. I'm getting my own office! We'll have more than ONE bathroom. The kids will each have their own rooms. And...I plan to lose the last of my baby gain weight I put on having kids. LOL! I'm hoping to be a much thinner person by the time I arrive at Romanticon (hoping stating it makes it so! LOL) It's hard to lose weight when I sit so many hours in a day but I'm going to MAKE the time to work out.

In honor of the big upcoming move...I bought myself a set of bookends tonight from Amazon that will go on the first shelf I put up in my private office (no more using 1/3rd of my living room)! We'll be moving in a matter of months, we're house hunting now, and hopefully will find the perfect place soon! Very exciting and I think these are perfect for my office, don't you think? LOL! Sandwiched between them will be my print books! Melting Iron and Fury are available in print at amazon! That makes a total of seven books in print now. AWESOME!!!

In other news - my critique partner has her latest book out today! Some people ask me what a critique partner is. It basically boils down to we read each other's books, give feedback, and it helps us as writers to put out the best possible books that we're able. Kele's an amazing author and person. She had told me about the concept of this story, I was excited, and it was a JOY to read it. I'm in love with Clay. SIGH. He's hot! This is the first book in a series (Yippee - LOVE SERIES!!!) titled Battered Hearts. Here's the blurb and LINK.

I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday and Happy New Year!!! It's been an amazing year for me. I keep thinking back to the beginning of 2009 when I decided to go all out in an attempt to become published. I had a dream I'd been harboring since 1993 when I wrote my first book, I loved writing so much I had written 54 of them in my spare time, and I honestly had no idea if I'd ever see one of my books anywhere except on my computer screen. LOL! Now I have 21 books out or about to be out and 6 of them are in print ( Melting Iron is now IN print - LINK) I also learned that FURY will be put into print next month so I'll post when it is!!!

It's changed my entire life. I get all teary just thinking about it (okay, I turn into a sniffling mess - in the good way!) Happy tears. I couldn't do any of it without all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my books a read.

If you click on the cover, they take you to Ellorascave where you can read all the blurbs in the anthology. I've gotten a lot of emails about this and I'm so glad that everyone is looking forward to reading it. These authors are really talented ladies. There are three more volumes coming, I wrote stories for each one, and for those of you who don't read my blogs...one is Captain of Nara's heart. It's a futuristic alien story with a human. Two of the stories are about vampires who know each other. There's also a werewolf story. : ) I don't know the order they are coming in except that Captain of Nara's Heart is in the first volume.

Book 5 in the New Species series. The books can be read as stand-alone stories, but it is advisable to read them in order to get the most enjoyment from the series.

One look at Brawn and Becca is wondering how he’d look without his clothes. Brawn is instantly attracted to Becca but has sworn never to touch a human female. They just aren’t sturdy enough and he likes his sex a little rough. He is shocked to learn he’ll be living with her when she refuses to leave her home. He is there to represent New Species and to learn about humans so maybe this will be a good educational experience. He just has to keep his hands off her.

His good intentions go astray when they are kidnapped and locked together inside a cage. Brawn finds himself reliving a nightmare when he is once again subjected to breeding experiments at the hands of New Species’ enemies. They will use Becca to get what they want from him. Brawn will do everything he can to protect her but they only have each other to depend on while trying to survive.

Brawn has a release date! Two of them actually. It's going to be available for pre-order at Kindle and Barnes & Noble soon (I'm checking hourly to add the links so they will appear in this post or in the comment section as soon as they load them). I've gotten emails about how it's releasing for kindle and nook first before Ellorascave. It just worked out that way...I'm not sure why. I own an Iphone and an Ipad. I got free apps on both to buy/read kindle books. I know they have them for other phones and kindle has a free app so you can buy and read the books on your computer for those of you who don't want to wait. This is awesome for those of you who have complained about having to wait for kindle/nook and...there won't be as many issues the morning of the book releasing since you can order them from now until they come out with pre-order. Plus...bonus...from my experience books on pre-order at amazon are available just after midnight! AWESOME!!!

I got the tree up. The war with the cats has began. It's actually a funny story but I bought a ton of presents and 98 percent of them don't fit under the tree. My living room is small, I stole 1/3rd of it for my office...so there was NO place for the tree. I have a cedar chest under the front windows so I decided to put the tree on top of it. The first tree I bought...was too big so yesterday I rushed out to buy a 4 foot tree. It fits and it's up. I still have to buy a star to fit it - will do that today...but here's a photo. I wanted a white tree with blue lights. That wasn't something I could find so I decorated the white tree with white lights...with blue. But then added in some red for color. So here it is. LOL.

I have no idea why there is a gray strip but I'm having spacing/placement issues with blog and it will be a nightmare to try to reload the picture. LOL. So...I'm leaving it as is.

This story isn't related to any of my current series. I wanted something new and different to add to this anthology. Three more volumes are coming and I have a story in each one. It's such a privilege to be a part of it with so many wonderful, talented authors.

In other news...I have a cover for Brawn - the 5th New Species book. I don't have an official blurb but this book is about NSO council member Brawn. You get to meet him in Justice's book. He's volunteered to work with the human task force to replace Jessie Dupress.

I'll post as soon as I have an official blurb and release date.

In personal news...am I the only one who wishes Christmas was over? LOL. I have to put my tree up still. I'm dragging my feet. It's the stress of where to put it in my already crammed living room and knowing the 'battle of the tree' will begin. My three cats and I have it out every year. They try to climb the darn thing, have knocked it over, and I try to keep them away from it. Last year they knocked it over a few times. NOT PRETTY! With four kids...we've acquired way too many ornaments that we bought or were handmade. I worry about the cats breaking them which would you know...break my heart. I have such wonderful memories with each one.

I do love Christmas. The joy and excitement...my kids really get into it. This weekend they are going to see Santa. They've been looking forward to that for a while. Their wish lists keep changing and they really love the pictures we get. I've charged my video camera to make a new holiday home movie they'll watch a dozen times before and after Christmas morning. It's just so fun seeing it through their eyes again and brings back memories of my own childhood. Yeah, Christmas is awesome. They are trying to pick out the perfect gifts to give the people they love and they never cease to amaze me at how thoughtful they can be.

I have great news! It just posted on facebook that the first volume of the four book anthology is being released December 20th!!! I wrote stories for all four of them, they are NOT linked to any of my current series, and are totally stand alone. Here’s the blurb for the story I have in this one.

I’m still waiting for word on Brawn - the 5th New Species book. I believe it will get a December release as well. (Fingers crossed!) I have been working on books, cleaning up the 6th and 7th New Species, but the holidays have slowed me down a bit. LOL! This time of the year is always so hectic. I’m almost done with all my shopping. (Okay - I admit I’ve totally gone overboard shopping, spent way too much, but it’s all good). The kids are going to be VERY happy this year. I found a LOT of sales. Yippee Internet!

I’m still trying to work out the tree issue of where to put it but if it fits...that cedar chest is looking good. I am allergic to real trees so I always buy artificial ones. I’ve always wanted a white and blue tree which turns out...is impossible to find. Anyway, I ended up buying an inexpensive plain white one and ordered blue lights. (Finding blue lights with a WHITE cord is hard to do unless you turn to the internet). The tree is sitting in the back of my van...waiting for the lights to be mailed to me...and then it’s out of the box! I’ll probably post a picture. I want proof I put it up before our three cats terrorize the poor thing. LOL! They feel they must climb EVERYTHING in the house for some silly reason. Of course that makes me feel the need to buy some small squirt guns because it seems they don’t like water. The war of the tree will begin soon!

Answers, books, and the holidays!

Hello everyone. I hope that you’re all having a fantastic weekend. I’ve been catching up on some sleep. I’m an insomniac and after a while of living off 4 hours of sleep...my body isn’t as young as it used to be...and I start sleeping 10-12 hour stretches a day for about a week just to ‘catch up’. I’m currently in that cycle. I’m also getting some writing done!

I get asked a LOT of questions via emails. First off, I answer my own emails. This surprises a lot of people for some reason. I also update and run my own website. Back when I started out, I had a $40 budget. Period. I had to figure out how to put a website together, had to buy stock photos, and figure out how to make banners from them. I’m a techno idiot. Honestly. My kids program my iphone 4 for me. Yet...necessity made me learn how to open a website and play with pictures. It’s been awesome. I update my website often. I’m a reader as well as an author. I honestly...get irritated going to visit an author’s website and discover it hasn’t been updated in a while. I have NO CLUE what recent books they released, what books are coming out, and yeah...kind of drives me nuts. I never want to do that to other people. LOL! I even date the front page when it was last updated so you know if there's anything new on there since your last visit. It was updated 2 days ago. I added links to find Justice at various sites and added to the coming soon page. I even have a WIP (works in progress) page.

I cracked up recently when I was asked if I’m really a ‘writing team of authors’. Wow, that was funny. It’s just me. Hello, my name is Laurann and I’m a writeaholic. Seriously, I am. I spend at least 8 hours a day, sometimes up to 16 hours, at my desk - EVERY DAY. I love to write. It’s not that I write fast...I just put a lot of hours into it. My normal work week is at least 60 hours minimum. I never suffer from writer’s block because I usually work on anywhere from 3-5 books at the same time. If I get hung up on one story, I work on another. It would be really cool if I could clone myself and assign ‘five of me’ to write five different books. But...it’s just me.

The New Species books are coming out so close together because I had written them some years ago before I was published. I spend parts of my day editing and fixing my old writing mistakes. I have to update them to modern times, rewrite parts that need it, but it’s faster to do that than writing brand new books. Of course writing new books is less frustrating. I’m not dealing with a much younger me who made a ton of writing errors. I write new books during part of my day as well. I just...put a lot of time and heart into writing. I’m able to get them out faster because of the serious commitment I’ve made to writing by the amount of hours I put into it. Plus, to be honest, if I were part of a writing team...I highly doubt I would have been chosen to be the ‘face’ of that team. LOL. I’m a 41 year old wife, mother of 4, with a grandchild. Plus, I’d be thinner, prettier, and not have this wild hair - it's naturally frizzy. It’s just me, for real, and the pictures you see of me...that’s the one I face in the mirror every day.

Some people ask me if I’m going to write certain books. So...here’s my current ‘to write’ list.

Zorn - Vhon, Coto, and Vinlotti.

Raine - I’m writing all of the brothers including Trip and Adam.

Mating Heat - the brothers, cousin Brand, and probably Alpha Elroy’s story.
Cyborgs - Sky, Deviant, Gene, Onyx, Blackie, and I just added Mavo.

I may add more names to those but that’s my ‘to write’ list right now.

New Species... I haven’t released the names of book #8 or #9. Here’s why (I get asked this). Some of the names of the books/characters have already been changed. Here’s the ones that are set.

#5 - Brawn
#6 - Wrath

#7 - Tiger

I do have a story for Brass, council member Bestial, and another species you haven’t met yet. I had mostly finished writing their books before I had a medical issue and had to take time from writing while I got better. I plan to write Breeze’s story, 927, and a bunch of other books including at least one gift female one since...I found a partial already written for one of them that I LOVE and want to finish. I was going through old hard drives of my older computers and found partials of other Species books. Some of them I’d totally forgotten about. LOL. Jaded (council member) was one of them. Moon. Flame. Some you haven’t heard of. I even found an entire mostly written book that is a prequel of the Species series that I’d forgotten I’d even written. It’s like two chapters shy of being finished and I had outlined a few books to go with it. I don’t know if I’ll ever try to get it published. I have enough on my plate right now but maybe in the future. I want to catch up on my ‘to write’ list before I rescue any of my older books. It’s time consuming. In my 20’s and 30’s...my writing was rough. The storylines are awesome but yeah...rough writing style. Plus...If I rescue that prequel book...I’d have to write the ones that should go with it. There would be at least two more books that would have to be written. Big project and I just don’t have the time right now.

I’m totally trying to get through the holidays stress free. Easier said than done. Mr. Laurann and I decided to stay home this Thanksgiving rather than visit family. A stress-free day of us sharing a kitchen is something I look forward to and that’s awesome because we cook well together. I’m mostly stressed about Christmas. Kids are easy to buy for. Adults...NOT so much! It used to be buying gift cards was the easiest thing to do but what do you give people who can afford anything? Yeah. That’s my stress question of the month. LOL. I’m trying to think up personal and touching gifts. My brain hurts! LOL!

My other stress question...where to put the darn Christmas tree next month. The area it usually goes...now sports my new treadmill. Our home is tiny, 5 people, 3 cats, 1,200 square feet. We’re crammed in. I’m thinking of putting the darn tree on top of my cedar chest in the living room. Not sure how that’s going to work out but yeah, it’s got to go somewhere. I also stole 1/3rd of the living room for my ‘office’ which now has a huge L-shaped desk so we’re wall to wall furniture in the living room/dining room area. I also found some killer sales on toys and totally overbought. Yeah. You should see the explosion of wrapped toys already taking up part of my living room before the tree is even up. NO WAY are those going to fit under a tree. Next year after we move...it’s going to be great. We’ll have too much room but this year is going to be tricky. LOL! I don’t even want to discuss what my living room looks like. It’s...bad. Gifts are shoved everywhere. Yeah...I totally blame those toy sales. Buy one on sale, get one half off. 75 percent off. Who could resist??? Not me! I got entire seasons of their favorite shows for like $10. They are usually $40-$50. Yeah. It’s totally NOT my fault! LOL! And the email sales just keep popping up in my inbox. Damn you, irresistible sales! I’m going to stop opening them and reading the darn things. I only have one kid left to buy for. She’s 12 and past the toy stage, unfortunately. LOL!

I turned in Brawn’s story from New Species. I don’t have a release date yet. I’m hoping for December. Also...good news. It looks like the first book in the Something Wicked This Way Comes Anthology will come out in December. I’m really excited about being a part of them. I wrote stories for all four. None of the stories I wrote for the anthology books are related to any of my series books. I wanted to write something new and fresh, something that could stand on their own, and it won’t matter if you’ve read any of my other books. Here’s the blurb for the first story in the first volume. Justice - the 4th in the New Species series is OUT today!!! I added a timer to the blog so you know when it should be added to the Ellorascave site.

I'm posting this a bit early because my update list is DOWN. I'm having issues with that account and looking for a new place to move my update list. I'm so sorry to the people who expect updates. I've tried to log on and get errors. I don't know why it won't allow me on but it's been about a week. I've emailed for support but I'm guessing they are behind. Right now I'm using the blog for this so if you are a member of my update list... if you look to the left under my website picture banner on here...sign up if you want email updates. It will send you an email when a new blog is posted. Again, I'm VERY sorry for this.

In other news...I finished updating and fixing the 5th NS book. Brawn has been sent in and I'm currently updating the 6th one - Wrath. After I'm done updating the original 9 books - I plan to write brand new ones! Tiger is book #7. Brass' story was mostly written but I hadn't finished it when I took a break from writing the series some years ago. I DO plan to finish that book. I get asked a lot about 927 and Breeze. Yes, I do plan to write books for them. I've gone through my hard drives on some of my older computers to locate any partial books I had started for NS...I do that...I'd get an idea and write a few chapters. I have been reading through them and am excited to salvage a few of them! I even found a large section of a book I had written - kind of a prequel of the series. I had totally forgotten about it. LOL! It was cool finding and reading it. You know it's been some years when you totally mind blanked that you wrote something. LOL! I don't know what to do with it though. I might finish it and send it in to see if I can get it out there but won't tackle it until I find some free time. Right now I'm busy updating the rest of the original 9 NS books and writing new books for my other series.

I get MANY emails asking about Zorn. YES, I do plan to write more of them. I'm trying to get a three month hole in my schedule to write them. I want to get some book releases lined up so I have books coming out so there's not months that go by with nothing coming out. When I do that...I'm going to sit down for those three months and finish writing the three books I started. The timeline on them is right after another. It's easier to write them at the same time so I have the facts straight in the storyline. It's like when I wrote Touching Ice, Stealing Coal, and Redeeming Zorus. They are all linked and I wrote them side by side to get the facts right. So are the Zorn books. I am hoping...fingers crossed...to get them done by June. That's my goal. I am going to write all the books to the Raine brothers. I started two of them and work on them here and there. I'm also working on the next few cyborg books. And I'm almost done with Cousin Brand's book from Mating Heat. I have ideas written out for the other brothers in that series. I'm getting there. I am a mood writer. I write what I'm in the mood for so some days I'll work on one series, another the next day, and part of my day is always given to the New Species series because it's mostly editing work to fix all my bad writing habits from the original books, bring them into modern times, and doing minor re-writing on sections that need fixed. They are coming and I spend the majority of my time writing. I love what I do. I do it a LOT. LOL!

New Cover for Justice!!!

Yes, his story is coming! I don’t have an official blurb but I will say...he’s going to meet Jessie Dupree! She’s the woman who works for the task team that goes out and retrieves those Gift Females. It should be getting a release date REALLY SOON! Whoo Hooo!!!

This has been a crazy month for me. LOL. We went to Romanticon (SO MUCH FUN!!!) and we came home to sick kids. They shared. It took me a bit to get over what I think was the flu so I’m SO far behind where I wanted to be on other book projects. That bums me out. I’ve been putting in insane hours...trying to play catch up but I don’t want what I’m working on to suffer so I don’t know if I’m going to make my set goal of turning in a book by the end of this month. I’m trying though. Honestly. I hate to say it but I haven’t really slept with Mr. Laurann in like two weeks. I’ve been up all night and still working at my computer when he wakes up. Poor Mr. Laurann has been wonderful though. He just kind of smiles at me and shakes his head when he comes to give me a morning kiss and urges me to ‘go to bed’. I know a lot of people think I write fast... I don’t. Honestly. I just put in some intense hours. I’m book obsessive. I admit it. I love to write, I get emerged in stories, and yeah...I spend way too much time at my desk. I gained 3 pounds since I haven’t been working out or used my treadmill AT ALL this month. Mr. Laurann jokes that he’s going to figure a way to set up my keyboard and put a monitor on the wall so I can use it and type at once. I think he gets tired of hearing me wince over not being able to use my new treadmill.

I’ve also been busy going online to house hunt. We’re planning to move next year so I’m all excited!!! We outgrew our current home within a year of buying it since we literally moved in...and I discovered I was pregnant with our son, kid #4. We only have 3 bedrooms and ONE bathroom. 1,200 square feet. 3 cats. It’s been tight living but we’ve made it work. I love the layout of our home but there’s just not enough bedrooms, bathrooms, and my office is 1/3rd of our living room. I’m shoved between our living area and the kitchen with the dining room behind me. In other words I’m writing while life is going on around me, literally. Someone is using the big screen TV to my right, someone else is getting a snack to my left, and we set up computers on Mr. Laurann’s desk in the dining room for him and the kids (it holds his desk, the dining room table, and my treadmill - luckily it’s a big room...) but yeah. It’s kind of nuts and that’s why I work with headphones on. Heavy metal pouring through my head is easier to work with than hearing video games, kids talking, or whatever show they have on. I had to actually ask Mr. Laurann to stop watching Fraiser in the living room and move to our bedroom for his viewing pleasure. I love that show and it distracts me because I glance to my right...and yeah. I take off the headphones to hear it and then I turn in my chair...put my feet up on the back of one of our recliners, and I’m watching it with him. I tend to get out of my chair, go settle next to Mr. Laurann, and don’t get my work done. In other words...I need a real office with walls and a door so I am not distracted. LOL!

It’s been fun, let me tell you. I made a NEED list for the new house. We’re looking at 5 bedroom (a room for everyone so the kids no longer have to share - and MY OWN REAL OFFICE...with walls and a door!), at least 3 bathrooms (no more waiting in the hallway to use the bathroom when someone beats you to it!), and where we’re looking is far less expensive than where we live now. We can get a really bigger house for a LOT less. I am holding off on saying where our new location will be so that’s news for another time. It’s out of state, a few of you know, but shush...LOL! Anyway, we can get a huge house in other words for what we are paying now. Over 3,000 square feet so that’s really big compared to what we have. Most of the ones I’m looking at are around the 3,800 square footage range. A pool in the backyard. The kids will LOVE that. They hate the idea of leaving their friends, I hate that part of it too, but the truth is...Southern California is really expensive. The area we live in is...extra expensive. We looked at houses here and can’t touch anything, even small homes, for less than $400,000 in good areas. I’d rather have a huge home with tons of space and pay half that. I do like to eat and I need electricity! LOL! (No electricity...no internet and computer to write on)

Now I just look forward to buying and moving, getting settled in, and not having to stress out about it anymore. I just want to be able to concentrate on writing. I have a list of books to write. There will be more Zorn. On my list...Coto, Vinlotti, and Vhon. More Mating Heat books. I’m working on Cousin Brand’s story - and let me tell you...writing that first chapter cracked me up! LOL! There will be brother stories. I’m getting requests for Alpha Elroy too. That man needs a good mate who isn’t a bitch in every sense! LOL. More Cyborgs. More Raines. And of course, when I’m caught up on updating the original 9 New Species books and the 3 that I had started and never finished...I DO plan to write brand new ones!!! I even have other books...yeah...but let me catch up with my ‘to write’ list before I unveil a few other series I wrote before I was published. Five current series is my limit. Before I unleash a new series...I want to get those books written for the other ones so I’m not juggling so many at once. I had thought to hold off on New Species, they’ve been sitting in files for a lot of years, but I had sent them to my CP, to a beta reader, and another author friend of mine. They strongly encouraged me to stop holding onto them and get them OUT there so I did. I’m glad I listened even if dealing with a much younger writing me has been frustrating, sometimes depressing (oh man have I learned a LOT in the past 2 years working with my editors), and fixing all those old mistakes I made is daunting. I’m working on them though, fixing them, smoothing them out, and adding in modern technology while writing new books for my other series at the same time. I usually edit in the mornings to take out my old mistakes and write new stuff in the evenings to get both done. Sometimes I switch that up. I'm getting a lot done and that's all that matters. LOL! I’m currently about 80 percent done with the 5th book...and am trying real hard to get it done in the next 4 days (yeah...good luck with that to me...LOL!) I'm also really close to finishing Cousin Brand's story!!! (GRIN)

I should have great news... a release date for Justice... really soon! Also, at Ellorascave they added the first Volume of Something Wicked This Way Comes to their coming soon pages! I have stories in all four of them. I think that first one is the futuristic alien story. I think. I could be wrong. Anyway, he’s HOT! Trust me. LOL. None of the stories are linked to any current series. They are stand alones with no connection to other books BUT two of them are vampire stories and the guys know each other. LOL! They aren’t linked besides that. You can read them in either order. The fourth story is about a werewolf. That was so much FUN to write those stories! I am so honored to be a part of this anthology set. It was a challenge because I wrote four of them and the limited word count was TOUGH on me but it was super exciting. I hope you give them a read. When I have an official release date...I’ll let you know. The first one is slated for a Nov/Dec release but it’s not nailed down on the exact day.

Home from Romanticon and what's going on. LOL!

Romanticon was SO MUCH FUN!!! So....here’s the story! LOL.

Mr. Laurann and I got up super early on Weds morning and our neighbor drove us to L.A.X. We got there and everything was great...boarded the plane...and then sat there for a few hours because there was an issue with a smoke alarm. At one point we were sitting on a totally dead plane since they had to shut everything off to reboot the system. By the time we took off and landed...we’d missed our connecting flight. We had to take another one to a different airport than we planned to land at...about 5 hours behind schedule and worse...our luggage didn’t end up on the plane with us. Nope. It was in Philly and we were in Ohio. So...no clothes until the next day. That might not have been so bad but I had a food accident in the hotel room and so I was trapped without pants in the room! LOL! Yeah, go ahead and laugh. I can...NOW. Mr. Laurann was my hero and rushed by taxi to Walmart the next morning to buy me clothes.

The parties were awesome!!! Mr. Laurann and I dressed up for the caveman party. See picture below...

My outfit for the futuristic didn’t work out so well. (Darn breasts...lesson learned...try on costume next time!!! LOL). I won three awards. I included a picture. (They are SOOO pretty that this picture doesn't do them justice!)

One was a thank you for being one of ten authors who were involved in a testing for pricing at third party retailers. One was for No Fear of Commitment. If you weren’t aware, I signed a 75 book contract with Ellorascave in July. Yes, 75! LOL. If you know me at all or read this blog, you know that’s not so scary for me. I have books I wrote before I was published and I’m a writeaholic. Plus... I LOVE ELLORASCAVE! I don’t think I can say that enough. I love working with them, I just love writing for them, and now you know you’re going to see a lot more books...for sure! LOL. The third award was for Super-Sexy Shifters. His Purrfect Mate won it! Yippee!!! The awards are really beautiful and they are currently sitting close on my desk. I stare at the pretties A LOT! LOL!

I know I had to include this news. Caveman Angelo won the Alpha Caveman contest. He’s on some of my covers, a REALLY fantastic guy, and um...here’s a picture of him along with the other Cavemen who posed for a picture with me for one of the awards. Angelo is the tall one to the far left standing up. They were all really great guys, very charming, and um...they can all dance! Yeah. You really want to go to Romanticon 2012 to see them put on the shows they do. LOL!

Next year we’re going to Romanticon 2012!!! I wouldn’t miss it!!! I can’t wait until they release the details because I’ll be reserving that hotel room and booking flights! LOL. If you can...I hope to see you there next year. For those of you who were able to make it this year... Wasn’t it AWESOME??? We really had a blast!!!

On a book note... Taunting Krell should be getting a cover real soon. October 14th is coming up!!! I really have fun writing them. More books will be coming! I’m writing books for ALL of my series. I was able to update and turn in Justice from New Species before I left for Romanticon. I don’t have a release date yet but I’m hopeful for November. December at the latest I’m sure. I’m updating the remaining original 9 as quickly as possible but it’s not easy doing all that editing. LOL! It does show me how far I’ve come over the years. I’m going line by line over the books updating, fixing, and smoothing them out.

In my personal life...my son’s birthday is tomorrow. He’s going to be seven. It’s really emotional for me. I won’t go into all the gory details but I had a pregnancy condition that turned really bad. My son was born 2 months premature, it nearly cost both of us our lives, and poor Mr. Laurann faced losing us both. We’re fighters though and we pulled through. It was a long, hard recovery road, but my son turns seven tomorrow. When he was born they thought he’d never walk, talk, or have any kind of normal life. He had years of going to specialists, physical therapy, and learning support. Today you’d never know to look at him that he’s not a normal, happy, regular kid unless he were to pull up his shirt and you saw the scars on his chest. He didn’t sit up until he was a year and a half old, couldn’t walk until he was two, but by the time he was 3...he was running! He’s in a class with other kids his age and I couldn’t be prouder of him. He’s one brave, strong, tough kid!!!

So yeah...I always think back to that horrible night my world turned into a nightmare when I started to hemorrhage at 32 weeks and realized we probably weren’t going to make it. I don’t know how both of us survived, to be honest, and it was a miracle. My son was on life support for the first week of his life, had to undergo two surgeries within hours of his birth, and didn’t come home from the NICU for a month. He was 4 pounds the day we brought him home. SOOO small! I actually have a picture of him inside a 12 inch Christmas stocking. I show people that stocking and they are shocked at seeing the picture, that he was that small. LOL! Here he is. This was his first Christmas. So...happy birthday to my brave little guy!!!

Romanticon...here we come!!!

Last year at Romanticon when we were checking our hotel room to make sure we didn’t leave anything behind...I remember thinking... I’ll be back next year! And tomorrow...I’ll be back! LOL!!! It seemed like soooo long to wait for 2011 as we walked out of that room, heading for the front desk to check out, and hang out in the lobby waiting for our ride to the airport. The year passed and it’s that time again! WHOO HOOO!!!!

We don’t take vacations. We have kids ages 6, 8, and 12 still at home. It’s tough finding someone to step into our home and care for three of them. My mother-in-law is going to do that. BRAVE woman but she used to be a cop so...she can handle our brood. LOL! Romanticon is our one and only trip a year and we look forward to it like you can’t imagine. It’s the time when Mr. Laurann and I can have fun, relax, enjoy being just a couple for those 5 magical days, and Romanticon is SO MUCH FUN! The parties are a blast, the workshops are amazing, and meeting everyone...priceless!

It’s hectic preparing for a trip. Buying everything we want to take, getting the kids situated so they are set, and buying promo items is time consuming. I think I have the house all ready for my MIL to move right in to step into our shoes to take over caring for the kids. I even bought her ice cream and her sodas. Now...it’s all just a matter of making sure everything last minute is done and making it to the airport on time! SO EXCITED!!!

I plan to take lots of pictures to post on facebook. I bought a new laptop since my kids use mine. I didn’t want to leave them without a computer. My desktop that I write on is OFF LIMITS for anyone to touch...EVER! LOL. That’s a story that involves one of them playing a game and it getting a virus...and yeah. So the new law is NO ONE touches my desktop. I probably won’t be able to keep up with my emails (sorry) but I will respond to them after we return.

The questions to the most asked questions - LOL - Yes, I plan to write more books in ALL of my series. Justice is the next New Species books. 9 books were written originally, I am updating them ASAP, and plan to write brand new ones once I get the first 9 sent in. More Zorn - Yes. Coto, Vhon, and Vinlotti are on my ‘to write’ list. Ryder will be the next Raines book. Cousin Brand’s story the next Mating Heat book. Taunting Krell releases at Ellorascave on Oct 14th at 9 am Ohio time. (I have to mention that because there was an issue when Valiant came out. I guess EC got a LOT of emails starting at midnight...from other countries...LOL). Nook users...Valiant was FINALLY loaded at B&N today. Here's the LINK

Onyx and Sky are getting books for the Cyborg series. (Trying to remember all the questions I get asked the most...tapping my forehead...LOL) Books are loaded 1-3 weeks to other sites (Kindle, nook, ARE) after they release at Ellorascave but sometimes faster. Valiant went up on Kindle in 2 days. I still don’t have a release date for the Something Wicked This Way Comes anthologies but I believe word is that the first one will release sometime in October! I wrote a story for each of the four volumes. One is a futuristic hot alien story. Two involve sexy vampires (my first vampire ones that will be published but I used to write some vampire books before I was published), and then there’s a shifter story. They are not related to any of my series books. They are something new, something fresh, and you don’t need to play catch up by reading other books to read them. : )

The fastest way possible to get news from me on upcoming books or what I’m working on is friend me at Facebook. I am addicted to using it, I’m on there often, and I respond. I don’t have an author page on there since I love being able to get messages and the author pages don’t have ‘message’ buttons. Feel free to contact me at will. LOL! I do have a twitter but I don’t use it near as much as facebook. (Mentioned I’m addicted, right??? LOL!) I think I covered everything. (fingers crossed).

There's another dream come true for me. LOL.

This has been an amazing month for me. I'm celebrating A LOT. Two years ago this month Ral's Woman came out and I became a published author. I met Mr. Laurann in September of 1989 so it's the anniversary of our first date. A friend of mine who knew him introduced us. My oldest daughter turned 20. I'm also gearing up to go to Romanticon!!! I'm mostly packed, totally ready to take 2 flights to reach Ohio with Mr. Laurann, and looking forward to it. Last year I met so many amazing people, had such a good time at the events and workshops, and it's just a fun time to be had. Here's a LINK.

I am happy to say Valiant was loaded super quickly. I get about 60 emails a day asking when it will load there. LOL. Now I'll have more free time to write since I won't be answering that question. It's up!!! Whooo Hoooo!

I want to thank everyone for the wonderful and supportive emails I've gotten over this series. I can't state enough that I'm floored and humbled to be where I am and that so many people are reading the books. I used to write in all my free time, year after year, and to be honest...I got a LOT of crap for it sometimes. I wrote New Species and I honestly never thought more than a handful of my friends would ever read them. I wrote them out of love, they were my outlet in life, and my 'happy place'. It never crossed my mind that they'd actually get published one day in the future. I dreamed but did I think it would really happen? It was a nice dream. Just a dream.

To be able to go back and salvage them...and for them to do so well...WOW. It's like the much younger me and the older one are connected again. She had REALLY BAD writing habits, horrible spelling, and a tendency to write redundant sentences a lot...(LOL) but one thing never changed as I grew older. I love a good story and the characters.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I should be able to finish cleaning up Justice's story. Life happened, it does that, and I'm behind a bit. I'm not kidding when I say it takes longer to edit my old books and fix them than it does to write a new book. It's worth every minute though. It reminds me why I was so obsessed with this series. I'm having a blast and can't wait to fix the next book. Taunting Krell should be getting a release date really soon. I'm guessing we'll know the date by the end of next week at the latest.

Valiant is out! Whoo Hooo! I'm happy to say that I've gotten some wonderful feedback already. I apologize that I wasn't able to post this earlier. It was one of those days where I literally got a few hours of sleep, jumped out of bed, and rushed out the door! I just got home a short while ago, answered some emails while I ate something, and now I'm updating the blog. LOL!

I'm amazed and touched at the outpouring of emails I've received over the New Species. I was really worried about releasing them. I wrote them a long time ago, my writing style was VERY different, and while I've gone line by line to update and correct my old bad writing habits...I wasn't sure if I could clean them up enough to make them shine. I added in cell phones, tried to weed out the references that dated the books, and had a few good laughs over words I used to use. Rad was one of them. LOL. Remember that one? It was rad, man! LOL!!! It isn't easy to tackle long books to edit line by line but reading my old books was like going home to visit family after a long absence. I remembered why I was so obsessed with them for the years I wrote them, and now I'm back in their world. When I finish updating the original nine, finish the three other books that were nearly completed, I do plan to write brand new books in the series.

I'm currently over half way done with going over the 4th book - Justice. I get asked a lot for a list of the first nine books. Some of the names have been changed already and I'm not sure if the others will have to get a name change. I can tell you that Justice is #4. Tiger is #7. Brass has a story but his was only mostly done when I had some health issues and had to take a year off writing. That's when I stopped writing this series. I will finish that story for Brass. I have partials that I started on some of the characters you've met. Harley, as an example. I wrote the first three chapters of his book. I saved all my old computers and I was able to find and salvage all those partial stories from them. Yippee!

In other news...Taunting Krell should get a release date and a book cover really soon! That's the 7th Cyborg book. I plan to write more books in the Cyborg, Zorn, Mating Heat, and Riding the Raines series. I am not sure which book I'll finish next. I'm a mood writer, I get obsessed with a character, and that's who gets finished first. LOL!

I'm all geared up for Romanticon. If you're going...AWESOME! I'll have Romance Trading Cards on me to pass out wherever I go so please come say 'Hi' to get yours. I'm also bringing promo items for the area Ellorascave has for that. Plus...I'll bring even more stuff for the book signing. Let's just say I'm bringing a third suitcase since I need it to take all that stuff with me. If you're not going...I'm sorry. When I get back from Romanticon I'll probably run some contests and send out some promo items to winners. Yippee! Here's the link to Romanticon

I ALWAYS get asked this. All my books release at Ellorascave first, then are sent to other book stores 1-3 weeks later when they load on sites like B&N, Amazon, ARE, and others. I never know exactly when they are loaded to each site. I check daily and then post the links on Facebook.

Today is the DAY! Slade is coming out at Ellorascave!!! This is the second New Species book in the series and WOW...I'm so thrilled to finally get these books out after all these years. It's like seeing my past and present meet up...and it's just AWESOME!!! It reminds me of how I used to dream of being published one day....how sometimes it seemed it would never happen, yet I never gave up hoping. I would spend all my free time writing stories year after year and it made me happy to have that outlet. Writing became like breathing to me, a part of me, just...who I am. To get this series published...it reminds me how blessed I am and that dreams CAN come true no matter how long it takes!!! It's amazing and makes me want to cry in a good way!!! Thank you!!!

I'm sharing a release date with my critique partner, Kele Moon today!!! I'm so excited to do that! She writes some SUPER hot stuff that never fails to pull me in until I'm so emerged in the story that I'm actually FEELING her characters. They cry, I'm crying. They are happy, I'm grinning. I feel privileged to get to read her books before they come out and have her read my books. Plus...she's a fantastic person. Warm, funny, and has become my best friend. I hope you check out her latest and greatest, plus her other books. She writes M/F, M/M/F, and this is a M/M. HOT STUFF!

Fury has finally landed on Kindle for everyone who has emailed me to ask...WHEN? LOL! It's there! I know what the next question will be... When will Slade hit Kindle? I don't know. I can tell you it usually takes anywhere from a week to possibly three weeks to hit kindle, nook, and the other sites. I'm HOPING it hits kindle within a week. FINGERS CROSSED.

In other news... the dates haven't been released yet for when the anthologies are coming out but I'll let you know when I hear them. Promise. My fingers are crossed that Valiant, the third New Species book, will get a Sept release date. I just finished writing Krell's story and I'll be sending it in as soon as Kele reads it and tells me how I did. I'm sending it to her this weekend. I'm just reading over it one more time to make sure I didn't forget anything. (LOVE this story, B.T.W) I don't have an official title to share, I have to have the one I tagged it with approved first, but I'll let you know when I do. Fingers crossed....again...maybe an October release date for Krell's story. : )

And as for the next release...I don't have a date but it will be Valiant - the third New Species book. I'm really HOPING for a September release date! I don't have an official blurb to release yet. You'll meet Valiant in Slade's and Doc Trisha's story. He's been mixed with lion DNA and humans aren't his favorite! LOL!

I am slowly updating the original nine books. I took a break between Valiant and the 4th book (Justice) to finish up a few books I'd been working on in my spare time. Krell's story (7th Cyborg) is finished. I'm just going over it, fixing anything that needs fixed, and then I'm sending it to my critique partner. She'll let me know what she thinks and if I need to work on his story a bit more. If not...I'll send it IN to Ellorascave! WHOO HOO!!! After that I'm going to work more on Cousin Brand's story from Mating Heat. It's over half done. The plan after that is to clean up books #4 and #5 in the New Species books. Then it's back to writing new stuff. Zorn and Raines will get my attention. That's my master plan at least. Things could change but yeah... right now that's what I've scheduled. I write by the seat of my pants but I am trying to get better at keeping a list of what to write and when. We'll see how it goes! LOL!!!

I haven't gotten word yet on the Anthology release dates for Something Wicked This Way Comes but I'll be sure to let you know when I do!!!

I'm also counting down to ROMANTICON!!! Omg! I'm sooooo excited to go!!! Mr. Laurann is going with me and we can't wait to board the planes (2 of them...each way!). I can almost hear that jacuzzi tub calling to me and to see everyone...WHOO HOOO! I had the BEST TIME EVER last year and this year is going to be bigger and better!!! If you can make it, I sure hope to see you there! I'll be the blonde frantically searching for iced coffee at any given time. LOL! I ordered romance trading cards along with a lot of the other authors so that should be a fun. I look forward to that too. I bought a binder to collect them myself. : )

A busy summer and LOTS of covers!!!!

Slade comes out NEXT WEEK!!! August 19th!!! I'm so excited to get this series out! I can't say it enough. Between updating Fury, Slade, and the third book (look below for the cover) Valiant... I also wrote some anthology stories that were accepted by Ellorascave. I'm so THRILLED to be a part of the Something Wicked This Way Comes anthologies!!! I don't have release dates on the anthologies or Valiant yet but it shouldn't be too long!!!

I get a lot of emails asking me to write faster!!! I laugh every time because I write seven days a week...every day...and LOVE what I do. Until a cover is released... most people don't know what an author is up to. I've had a super busy summer. Fury came out last month. Slade this month, and hopefully (fingers crossed...) Valiant next month. They were written a long time ago but I had to update them to fix all my old bad writing habits and so they aren't dated from the time I originally wrote them. Updating is faster than writing entirely new books. I'm writing new ones for my current series, updating old, and slowly getting the books to you!!! (Or maybe not so slowly since there are 5 new covers on this blog! LOL!!!!)

Four of my stories are going to be in the 4 Volume anthology books for Something Wicked This Way Comes. I'm so honored to be a part of it with so many wonderful, talented authors!!! (Check out their names...WOW!!!) This summer has been AMAZING!!! Plus...I'm working on a book from each of my current series. Cyborg, Raines, Zorn, and Mating Heat. I don't know what order they'll finish in but I'm typing away at them!!! With the anthologies...you can expect a futuristic alien story, a werewolf story, and...two vampire stories!!! These will be my first published vampire ones. I could totally relate to them since over the summer I've tended to work while others slept to get as much writing in as possible. I've seen the sun rise many a time!

I'll post as soon as I get release dates for Valiant and the anthology books.

In my personal life...I broke a back tooth. I have no idea how it happened but OUCH! So I had to have it pulled. DOUBLE OUCH!!! I took pain pills yesterday so I didn't get anything done. I rarely take anything so when I do...they hit me hard. I was a slug on the couch and Mr. Laurann was WONDERFUL. He rubbed my feet and pampered me. I drifted in and out of sleep which helped since even with pills...not my best day ever! I'm feeling better today and refuse to take more pain pills since I can't write on them. I'm tough and pain doesn't bother me too bad so I'll 'big girl panties' it by putting them on and dealing with it. The hardest part, honestly, is learning how to drink my iced coffees without a straw! I'm sipping them from the top and WEIRD!!!

I hope everyone is looking forward to doing something fun this weekend!!! I'm going to finish a book I'm working on and then...it's off to finish the next one!!!

Slade and other news!

August 19th is approaching fast!!! Whooo Hooo! The second New Species book is coming out. You can click on the cover and it will take you to the blurb and excerpt. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) the third one gets a September release date. It's IN and I'm waiting for edits. Slade and the third book - Valiant are plus sized novels. Fury was a Super Plus sized novel. The second and third books aren't much shorter so if you like longer books...you should be happy. I'm going over the 4th book right now updating it and should get it turned in soon. It's been a TRIP updating these books (9 are written). Way back when I wrote them cell phones weren't common (um...they were BULKY and EXPENSIVE)...so mostly they used land lines to make calls. I've traded out CD players for Mp3 players. Going over the technology stuff isn't so tough. I'm also taking out anything that dates it and references to things that no longer exist! LOL! I'm taking all the things I've learned from my lovely editors and fixing my bad author habits I had. It's been a FUN challenge. Once I get the original 9 books updated, I plan to finish the 3 additional books that were near complete when I stopped writing these. Then....hopefully MORE of them! I have a bunch of partials for some of the secondary characters to get their own books. That's the plan!!!

I've also been working on the 7th Cyborg Seduction book about Krell. I'm having WAY TOO MUCH fun writing it. I love mouthy characters. LOL! I have a lot of fun with cyborgs since they are dealing with women from Earth and our slang that only Sky (cyborg) understands since he studies Earth often. I DO plan to write Sky's story. I get a lot of emails asking about him. With Krell you'll get a peek into the past when Cyborgs were still living on Earth. Yeah...I'm having way too much fun writing this. It's probably why it's taking so long. I don't want to give him up!!! I'm loving Krell.

My family and I had a 'vacation day'. We went to the Aquarium of the Pacific. It was really neat seeing all the tanks of cool stuff. We even got to watch them feed the larger fish with divers in the tanks. I took a bunch of videos so the kids can watch it over and over and over!!! I have to edit out the sounds first though because if you've ever filmed with other people around....you know why! Fifty voices talking in the background. I'll find some neat, mellow music for the kids and they can hopefully watch it and um...fall asleep! We hit the gift shop on the way out and of course I HAD to buy myself some stuffed animal turtles (2 of them). I have NO CLUE what to do with them. The first night they adorned my night table. Last night Mr. Laurann thought it would be funny to put one of them on Dude's back to peer at me over his ears (my 2 foot gargoyle next to my monitor). Currently the stuffed turtles are hanging out on my printer looking huggable. Yeah...I know. But they were just too tempting to not buy! LOL!!! They look like Squirt from Finding Nemo. Who could resist??? (okay...most of you probably could have but not me...) We did buy the kids lots of stuff too.

I love turtles! I had one as a kid. It broke my heart when we went on vacation and someone stole him. Yeah. Sometimes people SUCK! I never forgot King Tut. He had that whole 'regal' thing going on about him. My daughter was recently given a turtle and he's adorable. He swims around in his tank looking way too cute for words. I almost want to steal him and find room for him on my desk next to my gargoyle but you know...she'd cry...so I guess not! Bad parenting 101 to confiscate your child's pet because you want it for yourself. LOL!!! So here's a picture I took outside on our way home.

In other news...I wrote some anthology stories and they were accepted by Ellorascave. I mentioned it before but I still don't have a release date or an official cover. Here's a link to Jaid Black's blog talking about it. LINK I always wanted to be a part of an anthology and I feel so honored to be in books with such amazing, talented authors! As soon as I get the official word about a release date and the official covers...I'll post! I'm ecstatic!!!

I hope everyone is well and happy! School starts at the end of the month and I have to admit...I'm looking forward to some quiet time again during the day. It's been rough with a house full of people. I can relate to Vampires now with their odd hours...only I don't burst into flames when the sun rises. I just realize I worked all night again and should have gone to bed hours before! It's slowed me down a bit but I'm getting in some word count and that's all that matters. LOL!

On a personal note ----

I debated on if I should address this or not but if you know me - I'm pretty blunt and upfront. Some people are comparing my New Species series to another well known series and that's fine and even understandable but here's some things to keep in mind just for knowledge sake. First off, I wrote this series before that series was out and I have the old, dusty computer and the dated files to prove it. Second off, anyone ever heard of H.G Wells??? Island of Doctor Moreau was a book written in 1896 and a movie was made about it in the 70's I believe. They did a remake of it some years ago too (90's) if you don't read classics. It was a horror novel about experiments gone wrong with animals/human hybrids. This idea isn't exactly unique. That's just an example and I used it because who hasn't heard of H.G Wells? The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, and the list goes on for his books. He wrote awesome scary stuff and they made fantastic science fiction/horror movies about them. There are more examples but I used that since yeah - who hasn't heard of him??? The idea of genetically altered human beings with animal DNA has been out there for over a hundred years.

Read New Species and you'll see they are different. The only common bond is genetically altered humans with animal DNA. A pharmaceutical company created them (not sure about the other series and how/why they were made) but in reality who would make them? Common sense. I doubt some guy in his basement has the high tech skill or equipment to take on genetic splicing and my chemistry set as a kid sure wouldn't have done the trick. LOL. The science is unfortunately real. They've been doing experiments with human/animal DNA mixing for a lot of years searching to find cures and that's why a drug company was picked in my head to have created them. It made sense to me. I personally wrote about them because my first book/series I ever wrote was about a town hit by chemical weapons and it physically and emotionally changed them. My next series was about werewolves. I started a third series and kind of combined the two. Altered humans and animals met science and they merged. The New Species were born to my imagination. There are a ton of vampire and werewolf books out there. Again, not a unique idea but some AWESOME books are out there! I love them. Keep em' coming!!! Some series are known more than others. I'd hate to have every vampire book compared to Anne Rice because they are so different. (Loved her books, by the way) But... I hope you see the point. Werewolves are so out there in so many forms, in so many series, I can't even think of one that is the most well known in my mind. LOL. Anyway, I just wanted to address that. It saddens me when someone admits they missed out on some great stories about hybrid animal humans.

Fury - today is the day!!! New Species!!!

Fury - the first book in the New Species series is OUT today at Ellorascave!!! BIG happy dance!!! I can't begin to tell you what this means to me. It's almost as exciting as the first time I was published. I wrote this series a LONG time ago, way back when becoming an author was a far, far distant dream that I wondered if it would ever come true. I wrote this series out of love, in my free time, and honestly - I never thought more than my friends would ever read it. I had some loyal ones who always borrowed the printed out 3 ring binders I used to put my latest books I'd written inside. (I still have a few dozen of them sitting around, the pages yellowed despite them being in page protectors, the binders sagging from the heavy weight of all those printed out pages...LOL) They'd take turns reading my latest obsession that had caught my imagination. I had written a series I'll dub 'Morbid'. Those books were about a small town who experienced the tragedy of being exposed to chemical weapons and it really messed them up. After that one I'd started a shifter series. I took both concepts and kind of made a 'love child' out of them with New Species. Altered humans mixed with animal DNA. They became an OBSESSION of mine. Now Fury, the first book, is being released.

I actually cried when Fury was contracted. (Happy tears - promise) I mean...it took me back all those years ago when all I had was a seemingly impossible dream, a love of writing, and to be honest, not everyone understood. I mean - who does that? Who writes book after book, year after year, staying up late nights, using all their free time - just to write for the fun of it? I never had time to follow my dreams. Mr. Laurann and I were raising kids, struggling financially, and even had some medical problems to deal with. My own or close family members. I got a lot of...well...crap for writing from a lot of people. "Give up it", "Waste of time", and lectures of how impossible it would be to get published. I've heard it all, trust me, and sometimes it wasn't said kindly. Sometimes - it was downright cruel. I almost gave up once but the truth is - writing is a part of me. It's like breathing. It's what I enjoy, something I love, and it makes me happy to do it. Life can be really TOUGH sometimes. It can yank the rug right out from under you when you lose someone you love to life or to death. It can be so unfair. I've seen it, survived it, and probably should own the T-shirt or a closet full of them. Writing made my world right when things went wrong.

Opening up a new page to type on...it's like I'm flying. Everything is possible. It's...magical. It reminds me how much Mr. Laurann loves me (he always supported my love of writing...then and now). It makes all those years I wrote...with just a dream and a love for doing it...AWESOME! LOL! I can't say it enough. I feel so blessed and grateful for all I have. Mr. Laurann, our kids, and the wonderful friends who read every single book I ever wrote even when I was handing them 3 ring binders who helped me keep my dream alive. I am in awe that so many people read my books... (Yeah - an author without words! LOL!!!) Thank you. I know that doesn't really cover it but it comes from the heart.

Berrr's Vow in PRINT and Fury's Cover!!!

WOW! Today Berrr's Vow hits Print at Ellorascave!!! That means all the current Zorn Warrior books are in PRINT! Awesome!!! Yes, I do plan to write more. If you click on the cover - it will take you directly to Ellorascave! It should be added to amazon and the other stores soon. I have no idea when though. SUPER exciting!

I LOVE the cover for Fury!!! He's been freed from his chains so how appropriate that he's gripping them! It's less than a week away from coming out. I'm really excited and nervous. That's normal for me.

I'm dieting. Ugg. I've lost a few pounds so that's good. I bought a treadmill. The kids LOVE it too! I have to fight sometimes to get to use it. LOL! My son has never slept so good. I had to make a few LAWS though. First, they have to always clip their shirts to the safety feature that auto shuts it off if they step off, fall, or move too far away from the top of it. The second one is NO CATS are allowed on it. Yeah. We have 3 indoor cats and my kids think it would be cool if they get some exercise. (Shaking head) Kids are FUNNY!

The past, the present, and the future...(Book news!)

Okay - I've been keeping the news close to the vest but I have HINTED strongly that an old series I wrote some years ago has been a project of mine for the past few months. If you've read my blog or my website you're aware that I wrote for a LOT of years before I tried to get published in 2009 and wrote over fifty books between 1993-2008. I get asked a lot about what kind of books I wrote. It got me to open up some old files to read some of my older series. I was obsessed with one of them and when I re-read it, I became fixated again. I sent the nine books (yes - NINE finished books to a beta reader who not only read them within a week but 3 more mostly finished books in that same series). She loved them. I began editing and updating the first book (um...as an example the lead in the first book had to exchange her CD player for an MP3 player and add in the use of CELL phones since when this was written...yeah....they weren't common and called people on land lines). I had to go through four old computers to see when I began to write this series. The oldest files I could find were the beginning of 2002. I have one more computer that is older which will have more files but I didn't have the right cord for it. We're talking some OLD darn computers! LOL. Good thing I don't throw them away since I found some partial books I'd forgotten about when I was tracking how far back ago I'd been working on this series. Anyway, If you're wondering exactly when I began this series...it was before 2002 since I found files with those dates to tell me I'd written at least the first three by then.

I have been updating the first three books to the NS series. Writing is a learning process. I'm always studying edits, seeing where I make mistakes, and trying to learn from them by taking notes. I had a lot of work to do on these books. As an example... Alright is actually TWO WORDS. I had a redundancy issue and tended to ramble. These are NOT short books. I looked up Ellorascave word count list and the first book is considered a Super Plus Novel in length. LOL! It was time consuming but I believe WELL worth it! As a matter of fact my CP threatened to fly to California and kick my butt if I didn't submit this series. (LOL - I think she meant it!) The beta reader read these books in my old writing style (not pretty!) and she still loved the stories. Those two things really encouraged me A LOT to try to get this series out!

Ellorascave should be sending me the cover for Fury really soon and I should have a release date pretty quickly! I will post as soon as I get them! It really should be VERY soon! I'm going to wait for the official blurb to come out at Ellorascave Coming Soon page so you'll see it there along with the excerpt when they add it. I know - you want more details. What I can tell you is that if this series goes over well.... NINE of them have been written. Yeah. NINE. I was obsessed with this series for a lot of years. They are Alpha males, gruff, and a bit starved for affection. They won't be for long! I came up with the idea for the series because in 1993 I wrote my first book I'll dub 'Morbid'. It was horror story meets romance after a biological weapon accident occurred. My second series I ever wrote was about shapeshifters. I did one of those 'what if' questions...and came up with this series after those two. LOL! (Did that help any?)

My fingers are crossed that the series goes over really well and the rest of the books are picked up! I'd love to get all nine out and finish the rest of the ones I started on this NS series before I had to take a year off writing after my son was born in 2004. It was a rough year when I was pretty ill and afterward, I began writing different stuff and had given the NS series a rest. I've had a blast revisiting the past and being inside their world once more. I MISSED IT and them! (I REALLY LOVE these guys and hope you will too!!!) I'm really excited thinking about writing more of their books once I finish editing and updating the ones already written. I am also working on current series books! You'll see more of your favorite ones soon! I really do love to write and have more books planned for each series. I feel SUPER blessed!

Also - last but not least - THANK YOU to everyone who writes to me, posts on Facebook, and buys my books! This really is a dream come true for me to get to do what makes me happy and the fact that so many people read them = AWESOME!!!

Romanticon - Summer - link with News!

I wanted to apologize for not updating my blog. At first it was having issues and then I just allowed life to swamp me. (Still having issues it seems since I'm having spacing/text problems...GRRRRRR) I'm taking the time now. My daughter is getting married this weekend. We're really excited. This is also the last week my smaller kids are in school. That means...summer vacation. They are so excited. I am trying to make sure that they have plenty of things to keep them amused. Bored kids are...yeah...NOT good! LOL!

I am without a vehicle right now. GROAN. You know how you tell your kids NOT to slam doors? There's a reason. LOL! It seems side doors on vans CAN and DO break! A very nice, strong tow truck driver wrestled the door back into place in a parking lot of an office supply store. My van has been in the shop since Saturday. They had to order parts to be shipped and I don't get it back until tomorrow. I thought I was a homebody - totally - but after not leaving the house for so many days...I can tell you that I'd give a LOT to go for a drive...anywhere! The grocery store...the dollar store...to even fill the tank. I just miss walking out the door and leaving for twenty minutes.

I've been writing some books too and hopefully will finish one of the four I'm working on by the end the month for submission. I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for all the emails and comments I've received over His Purrfect Mate! Awesome and I totally will be writing more books about the Harris family. One of the books I'm working on is the next one in that line. (cousin Brand's story). I always say this but keep getting emails asking - I have NO PLANS to end any of my series. I'm a mood writer, I never know what book will finish first, I write more than one at a time, but I will be finishing more of them real soon. When I have any official word to share - that means when they are picked up and the contracts are signed - I'll be sure to post. Sometimes I learn news but I can't share it until that happens. I can tell you that I DO and WILL have GREAT news to share soon!!! YIPPEE! So...look forward to some great news if you enjoy my books.

This summer my goal is to finish at least three to four books that are currently on my plate. I do put in a lot of hours, I feel certain that I'll get them done, and some of them are going to be from your favorite series. My other goal is to lose some weight before Romanticon. I'm so looking forward to going with Mr. Laurann. We bought our tickets and we've booked our hotel room! I'm putting together some promo items to take. This year I've been told Romance trading cards are IN! This excites me. I can't wait to collect some of my own!!! I even bought a binder to hold them - if that tells you anything - and am currently making some to pass out. I've designed one that I'm thinking about. Here it is. I think I'll go with this. What do you think? I'm not sure about the top 'Zorn Warriors' but I really liked the planets tossed in there. LOL!

My desk (pic) and book talk

Okay, in my last blog I talked about how I made my work space a priority. Here is 1/3rd of my living room. That's my big L-shaped desk. The hutch stands taller than I do, which in all fairness, isn't hard. I'm a tad under five foot three. I LOVE my work space. I work full time, put in a lot of hours, and I honestly believe that you need a comfy writing zone to really enjoy what you do. (this after NOT having comfy writing spaces for a lot of years!!! LOL)

I am really happy that I was able to do it. It didn't even cost that much. I hit up Staples. My desk was a display model I bought for about $120. I paid my neighbor and his friend $100 to disassemble it, drive it to my home, and put it back together. I have a laptop, it's there on the desk, but I prefer the desktop. I've got a 24" widescreen monitor. You can put two word documents in full size next to each other. That really comes in handy when you write a series. You can open a previous book you wrote to check facts as you write the new one. When I'm editing them before submission, I pull up that second area to go over the editing notes I've made from my editor. If I'm working but paying attention to facebook, I can do both. Since this picture was taken I upgraded my desktop so my old one with a new 23" monitor now sits on it too. That comes in handy. Two big monitors and two computers. LOL. So this is where I spend most of my time.

Redeeming Zorus got a fantastic review. Here's the LINK When I wrote it, I was all kinds of nervous. I think I've admitted that. Zorus was the bad guy. I know I mentioned the weekly stream of emails I received with suggestions on how to kill him slowly and painfully from readers of the Cyborg Seduction series. Yeah. He was HATED! When I mentioned to some of my friends that I had started to write his story - the reactions were kind of funny but scary. A few people thought I'd lost my mind. One person thought I was setting myself up for failure. She said "You can't make anyone like that a**hole." That's a direct quote. LOL. Hence the nervous part. I wondered if I shouldn't do it. Kind of a .... 'have I lost my mind?' moment. I couldn't ignore it though. The story was there, it was unfolding inside my head, and I continued to write it. I'm one of those 'be true to your muse' types. I'd rather write something I know will never get published just to get it out of my system than allow it to fester inside my mind bugging me. I am pretty sure even my editor probably arched eyebrows when I told her what I was working on it but she's awesome. She never discouraged me. She never said "Don't write it!". She just smoothly accepted that was my current WIP. LOL. I love her!!!

I actually felt sick to my stomach when I submitted it. (Is that uncool to admit???) Yeah. Um...but true! I was really nervous. I finally calmed down by realizing the worst could happen is a big NO (if it didn't end up getting picked up), I survived rejections in the past, and I was happy with the story. Keep in mind I wrote a LOT of books for a LOT of years for no other reason except I loved to write in my free time. The pressure is on after you become published. Readers are waiting on books to come out, you don't want to waste time on a writing a long shot when you could be writing a book that does have a better chance of getting out there. It made me feel torn. It all came down to who I am, I guess. That story was there, I wanted to tell it, and it made me happy to write it. I always want to work on stories that I love.

It was picked up, it came out, and I started getting emails and great feedback! Awesome!!! Sheer amazement in a lot of cases that they really enjoyed the story and I was able to redeem Zorus. YIPPEE! So...I'm really glad I took a chance. I get a story stuck in my head and it won't let go. Zorus was especially stubborn! BIG surprise, right??? LOL.

His Purrfect Mate came out. WOW! Thank you!!! I have gotten such wonderful feedback and awesome emails about this book. Some of my friends snorted when I had dubbed this 'kitty love by woof woof'. (Yeah - I know. Hey...I didn't submit that title!!!) I plan to write more of them. I LOVE the Harris family. I've been working on a big project I'll wrap up by the end of the weekend but by next week... I'll be story deep in working on books for the current series - Zorn, Raines, Cyborgs, and now Mating Heat.

This is a wallpaper I made for my computer for the 'big project' I've been working on. He's a male, it's at night, and he's not 100 percent human. LOL. I have submitted the first two books, will submit the third one in this series by the end of the month... so please cross your fingers!!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up because this series is an older one I wrote that I've been working on cleaning, touching up, and after my CP emailed me after reading the first book...I knew I had to submit it. She threatened to get on a plane and come kick my ass if I didn't. LOL. I enjoy my butt remaining unbruised. I suspect it will take a while to hear back on if it's being picked up or not...considering this isn't just a one book submission. There are nine books total in this series that have been written so far. The males of this series were an obsession of mine for YEARS. I lived, breathed, and daydreamed about them non-stop. YEARS. Before I had the time to write full time...I'd only have an hour or so a day, not even every day, to write. It would take me at least six months to finish a book, sometimes up to a good ten months. 9 books + 6-10 months each = LONG TIME . LOL! When I hear yes or no.... I'll share. Happy thoughts!

Today is the day! His Purrfect Mate!!!

In a matter of hours from the time I write this, His Purrfect Mate will go live on Ellorascave! I'm really excited (and nervous!) about that. LOL! I always get excited and nervous though. You'd think at some point that would ease but no...it doesn't. I have been told it's a good thing that I keep that sick feeling inside my tummy as I wait for some feedback to come in. I CARE if people enjoy the books I put out. I really do! LOL. I hope everyone really loves Shannon and Anton, the way I've come to.

I debated on just a 'it's out!' blog or actually writing about something while I had your attention. I decided to write. (BIG surprise, right? Yeah. I love to write!) So what is the topic of today's blog? I thought books would be appropriate and since I have a new one coming out, BINGO! Blog topic about my books and writing. LOL. So... here goes.

I'm ALWAYS trying to improve as an author. I take every edit as a lesson. I make notes. I also read feedback from readers about my books. YES, I know...I'm admitting that I'm stalking sites for feedback. I want to know what people have to say. As an example, a lot of readers hated the overuse of Babe in Propositioning Mr. Raine. NOTED! I put a 'post it' sticker on my forehead for a week. LOL. (not really...my kids would have laughed and yeah...the people at McDonalds I see every morning to buy iced coffee from would have tagged me with some funny name) The point is I listen. I care. I try really hard to learn and grow as an author. I think there's a big difference from when I wrote Ral's Woman to say... Redeeming Zorus, as an example. Editors are goddesses, I swear. They point out my bad writing habits and I make notes so I don't make the same mistakes over and over until they want to nail a post it note somewhere painful on me. (they wouldn't really but yeah...I imagine being chased by someone with a nail gun...LOL) The point is, I listen. I take things to heart. I try to improve as an author.

Some authors are super impressive. I read blogs and they tell how they uses plot boards, carefully plan each book out before they write it, and I'm in awe. Really. That sounds so organized and I'm so not! I admit that freely. I literally think I'm going to write about (insert name here from insert whatever series), open up a blank document, and allow my imagination to go wild. I don't even know what's going to happen in the next chapter. Sometimes I surprise myself. Really. I'll sit back after writing something and think...'where the heck did that come from?' Only I don't use heck. If you've read my books you know I use curse words. Yes, NOTED! LOL. I try to scale it back now when I edit a book on curse words. Some readers have complained about that. I can't remove them all though. LOL. I do cut a lot of them these days. The characters just appear inside my head (I don't need meds, swear, the voices I hear are characters for books and they aren't telling me to join a cult...) and they form into real people to me, in whatever world they live in, and they breathe life that comes out in a book. I just try to type fast enough to keep up with what they tell me.

I also envy authors sometimes who write one book at a time. I don't do that. I can literally have anywhere from two to six book projects I work on in a week. I'm a 'mood' writer. If I'm having a bad day, that bar fight scene in book five is awesome to write because my character can break some heads. Sometimes a book story will grab me and I become obsessed. Literally obsessed. I can't stop. Here's an example. Ral's Woman. I wrote it in six days. I put in about twenty hours each day, barely slept more than three hours (giving myself potty breaks and food breaks for an hour in that day), but it just grabbed hold of me and wouldn't let go. When I become obsessed I tend to daydream about the storyline if I'm not typing it out. I may as well put in the hours and write it, right? And I do put in some series hours. I also never suffer from writer's block because if I get hung up on one book, I can work on another. I never know which book will finish first. It all depends on which one grips me the hardest at the time, depending on my moods, and that's the method I use. LOL!

Some people warn me I'll burn out or that they don't think it's healthy. I disagree. I really LOVE writing. It's fun for me. Like taking a vacation every time I open up a book. WHEEEE! Here we go! I'm Alice jumping into sexy Wonderland. I'm always careful to spend time with my family. My office is IN my living room, the central hub of our home (it's 1,200 square feet and we don't have a den or family room so yeah...they see me plenty and interact with me). That's why I write with headphones and loud music. I have to write over them playing video games sometimes. Nothing is more distracting than them grouped around the TV playing something like Halo, bombs exploding and guns firing, them yelling at the screen, while I'm trying to write something. LOL. It's kind of crazy but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I do have some 'weird' habits. I drink 3 iced coffees a day. I take the kids to school, swing by McDonalds, buy them, and put 2 in the fridge. I sip them all day while I'm writing. I have amusing things on my desk. I splurged on my desk. It's a huge L-shaped monster with a hutch taller than I am. I bought gargoyles and werewolves, sexy sculptures, and even have some cute stuffed animal bats hanging from the hutch that were Happy Meal toys. (Total cuteness in my defense). I live in 'comfy' clothes. T-shirts, baggy pants, and hardly wear shoes. I won't spend $60 on a pair of shoes but I'll totally drop $100 in stock photos. LOL! With every book I try to make a screen saver to reflect the character(s) I'm writing. Sometimes it's just some hunky guy. Sometimes it's a couple. Sometimes it's an entire group of men or couples in a series. Sometimes I just have a book cover up or even...ALL of them. I have a 24" wide screen monitor. I want to be comfortable and I spend a lot of time at my desk.

I totally went above and beyond to have a comfortable workspace that I love. I am probably weird about that because I've written in some uncomfortable places. Nothing like trying to balance a laptop on your lap while sitting on a floor with kids crawling all over you. Been there, done that. I used to have a 'hand me down' laptop that died every 20 minutes. It overheated. I also remember when we lived in Texas my computer was set up in the kitchen with a chair that compared to sitting on a rock. The back door was drafty. In other words, I'd huddle in a jacket, freezing my uncomfortable butt off, and trying to ignore how miserable it was while I wrote. In the summer it was sauna time in that same kitchen. Sweat pouring off me while I wondered if I could accidentally electrocute myself...LOL. Yeah. Now I tend to make having a comfortable 'writing zone' for myself. One day I'd love to have an actual office. A room I could close the door to. One that I didn't have to always glance over my shoulder to make sure one of my kids didn't stop behind me to glance at my screen. They don't do that. They know better. But I am a parent who still worries that it could happen. I write erotica after all. LOL!

In other news...I'm writing. Always! LOL. I can't tell you exactly what book will be finished next, I work on more than one at a time, depending on what character demands my attention, but you'll be seeing more of Zorn, the Cyborgs, the Raine brothers, and the Harris family in the near future.

I also have been spending a lot of my free time working on a new series. I'm hoping to have news about it by this summer. I don't want to give out too many details. I don't like to do that until I know if it's going to be picked up or not. If you follow me on facebook you know that I got obsessed with a 'new series' a while back. I'm almost ready to submit it. I wanted to write the first three books of it before I submitted them so that I didn't have to worry about trying to fit them into my busy schedule (and yes, I keep busy writing!). I hate keeping anyone waiting if they want to read more books in a series so I do tend to put in some extreme hours. I love what I do so it's fantastic for me. What can I tell you about the new series? This is on my computer monitor when I work on them. That's about all I can say! (Tease...I know...I write erotica so what do you expect???) LOL!!!

Here's the LINK. I get a lot of emails asking about that so...LOL! In other news... the next book coming out is titled His Purrfect Mate. It's the second book following Mate Set. This one is about Anton. I don't have an official blurb yet or a cover...it should be coming soon. As soon as I get a release date...I'll post it!

I had to buy a new computer. I ran my other one into the ground. It was only two years old but I put a LOT of mileage on it. The fan was constantly running, it was acting up, sluggish (yes, I ran every virus scan known to man on it) but the truth was...I wore it out. I always laugh when people suggest I write more. Writeaholic here who killed a new computer in two year's time. LOL! I write a lot. I didn't toss it out. I instead set it up on my desk (yes, I have 2 computers and a laptop now on my desk). I figure the kids can play with my old one and until I get a new wireless thingy...the old one isn't hooked to the Internet. I have a HUGE desk, big ole L-shaped one so I had the room to have two out. I've been totally lazy though for two days while all my old files are installed on the new computer. It takes about 30 hours to do that since I have a LOT of files to restore. It's not just what I write but pictures, videos, and my ebook collection...plus my music so yeah. LOTS to download back into it. I'm just happy I don't have to do it manually! I just have to wait until all the files are restored on the new computer. It should be all done by morning. In the meantime I've caught up on a ton of shows we had taped, watched a lot of Ninja Warrior, took some naps, and cuddled with Mr. Laurann...A LOT! Now I'm ready to get back to writing in the WORST way. I've decided I don't do well with not writing for a few days. I feel like an addict in dire need of a fix! (I imagine it that way - I've never actually done drugs. Anti drug but you get the picture.)

I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has send me such fantastic comments on Redeeming Zorus. I know that some people believed I'd lost my mind when I wrote his story (LOL!). I really had to do it. It was there just waiting to be told. I am so glad that I did it and that all the feedback has been so wonderful! Again, thank you! I've also been pounded with questions of is there going to be more cyborgs. YES. I plan to write more. Krell, Sky, and Onyx are my next characters when I return to Cyborg Seduction. I'm working on books from my other series right now. I wrote three Cyborg books back to back so I need to give some attention to Zorn, Raines, and a new series I've been working on. I'm not planning on ending any of the series I have going (I get asked that a lot - so more books will come - I'm working on them!) I'm hoping to have some news to share by summer about the new series. Sorry, no real spoilers. I don't want to give out any details until I actually have something solid to share. What I can say - they are Alpha males and they are M/F books. That's about all I can say until I submit them and see what happens. Crossing my fingers they get picked up!

In my personal world - my oldest daughter is getting married this summer! Very excited! The younger girls are super excited too because both of them are going to be a part of the wedding. My eight year old is practicing the 'walk' for being the flower girl and my twelve year old is walking in small high heels to prepare for the wedding too. LOL. My son is, well, a boy. He doesn't care for such things but I assured him he'd have fun. (Him sitting still will be interesting - hoping he can do it). I need to go shopping for something to wear. It's a summer wedding, outdoors, so they asked people to dress casual. I'm going to take my oldest daughter with me shopping to help find a dress for me. LOL. That way...I know she's happy with what I wear since I buy black...often. I'm not a 'summer color' kind of person so I'll let her dress me. It's her day so if I have to wear yellow or (shudder) pale green...I'll do it for her. I'm hoping for something blue (my favorite color even though I don't wear it often). Mr. Laurann has bought a new suit. He's really excited too. He loves to wear suits though and he does look good in them!

I will be writing more cyborgs in the near future. I just wrote three of them in a row so I'm going to focus on a few books for my other series before I come back to them. If you follow my blog at all, you are more than aware that I LOVE to write and I find the time to put in a lot of hours. It's April and this is the third book that has come out this year. You'll see more cyborg stories! There will be more Zorn, Raines, and I'm hoping to release some great news very soon about His Purrfect Mate. That's the title of the second book to Mate Set. (There's a hint for you in that title! LOL!!!)

The 6th Cyborg Seduction book is coming VERY soon!!! Yippee!!! I'm really nervous because yeah...it's about Zorus, the cyborg everyone loves to hate. LOL! I can't even begin to guess at the number of emails I've gotten with suggestions on how to kill Zorus off. Tossing him out of an airlock, a battle to the death with another cyborg he angered, or gift wrapping him to send to Earth just to get a little revenge for what Earth had done to Cyborgs because he's the equivalent of the kind of present no one wants to get. (Am I the only one thinking...Fruitcake?) LOL! So of course...I finally had to write the book about Zorus. I will say the two people who read it were...reserved when I told them who I wrote about. Okay...they were probably flat out stunned and didn't think they'd enjoy reading his story. They both loved it so I'm hoping everyone else does too. Here's the blurb and LINK. In other news I should be getting the cover for Redeeming Zorus soon and a release date in the near future! The feedback I've gotten from the two people who have read it were really great! I'll easily admit it seemed daunting when I realized Zorus needed his own book and the story came about. You have no idea how many emails I've received with helpful suggestions on how to kill him off in the Cyborg Seduction series. LOL. Hey, he is HOT, you know. He hates humans but he has his reasons. You'll discover them if you read his story. Writing about his life became an obsession of mine. I have never had an easier time coming up with a title though. LOL!

This weekend I'm preparing to submit the second book that follows Mate Set. My fingers are crossed that it gets picked up. It's edgy, it has violence, and a whole lot of passion so that's why I worry so much. I wonder if I crossed any lines or pushed boundaries. It's that kind of book. I heard back from someone who read it and she assures me I have no reason to worry. She gave me fantastic feedback about it. I trust her judgement. I'll let you know when I hear anything. If it gets picked up I do plan to write more books. I really love Grady's brothers and this story just connected me closer to his family. I want to write about the rest of them!

New Book contract! Yippee!!!

Okay, if you belong to my update list you know I dropped some serious hints about the next book coming out. I wrote Touching Ice and left Coal and Zorus trapped inside a life pod together heading toward Earth. I submitted Touching Ice and continued on to write Stealing Coal. A freight carrier heard the life pod’s signal, scooped it up, and discovered two cyborgs aboard. They kept Coal to sell him to fight in brutal death cage matches and tried to gain a huge reward from Earth for Zorus. Instead, Earth Government just took Zorus away without paying them a dime. When I submitted Stealing Coal…I kept right on writing the next book. Ready for the title? Redeeming Zorus – the 6th book in the Cyborg Seduction series has been picked up by Ellorascave!!! I’m so happy about that!!!

I don’t have the cover or official blurb yet but I’ll post it as soon as I can and of course – share the release date when I find out what it will be. Redeeming Zorus was a blast to write. If you read the series – you know redeeming him had to be a challenge! I had a lot of fun with his story. I really hope you’re looking forward to it coming out as much I am.

In other news – I’m writing - of course. I’m a workaholic who loves to write. I get asked a lot what I’m working on. Right now I’m finishing up on the second book related to Mate Set. I’m almost ready to submit it! Yippee! I really hope it gets picked up. I’ll let you know when I hear anything after I sub it. If you follow me on facebook you know I happened to get ‘hijacked’ by a new storyline last month. I wrote and finished the first book. I haven’t submitted it. I’m planning to write the next two books and submit it as a new series. I’m a third of the way through the second book. I don’t want to give anything away but it would be considered a paranormal erotic romance series. I’m hoping to have some good news before this summer and more details to give out. I also get asked a lot about Zorn Warriors series. Yes – I’m planning on writing more books in the series along with more Raines stories. And yes – the cyborgs will return! I wrote out a few chapters of the seventh book already.

While I have you – the question I get asked the most – how do I write so much? It’s easy. I’m truly a workaholic! It’s not that I write fast. I just put in insane hours. I really love what I do. The stories would be stuck inside my head regardless of what I’m doing so I prefer to just type them out. LOL. I’m lucky enough to be at home full time, my kids are all in school, and I have an amazing husband who pitches in constantly to free up a lot of my time. I’m also an insomniac so I don’t require those pesky eight hours of sleep every night.

Stealing Coal comes out March 9th!!!

Yippee! In just over a week... it's going to be released. Now you're going to find out what happens to Coal - who we last knew had been trapped in a life pod with Zorus. Poor Coal! I tried to get this book out as soon as I was able. I finished Touching Ice and wrote straight onto Stealing Coal since I didn't want to leave him confined for too long with that annoying cyborg. LOL.

I know but I don't really like to talk about things until they are for SURE. LOL. I figure it's the end of Feb... I've had Raine On Me come out last month... Stealing Coal will come out in March so I'm doing good so far this year on getting books out. I hope everyone is having a terrific week! I was thinking about what I’m afraid of. What prompted this? A BIG black spider was on the wall. I immediately did the right thing. I pointed with a trembling finger and urged Mr. Laurann to ‘kill it!” He was my hero. He laughed, taunted me a bit, cracked jokes, but that baby is GONE. It was given a burial inside a napkin in the trash. I knew it was going to walk around the wall if Mr. Laurann didn’t get him…until he got me. Paranoia – yes, I know, but I swear that spider was staring back at me thinking up ways to close the distance between us. I have good blood or something, they enjoy biting me, and it may be my vanilla scented body wash that fools them into thinking I’m food but yeah. They bite me. I swell up. I have reason to fear them.

There’s a story behind why I’m terrified of them. Blame one of my cousins. He had tarantulas. Have you ever seen them in person? Hairy, ugly, big, and ewwww. I didn’t want to touch one. I didn’t even want to be in the same room with them. He had a few of them. So we were visiting and you have to sleep sometime, right? I fall asleep, my world is right, and then I wake up to my cousin smiling at me. Ah…how sweet. He’s happy I’m there. NOT! His gaze lowers to my stomach and I feel this slight weight there. Then something moves on my shirt over my chest. I look down. Yeah. He’s put two of them on me. He tells me very softly…”Don’t move. You know they are poisonous, right? If you scare or startle them it’s a horrible way to die.” First off, boys are MEAN to girls. Second off, it turns out he thinks this is a RIOT. Talk about the longest minutes of my life. I’m barely breathing, begging him in terrified whispers to take them off me and then my aunt walks in. She smacks him in the back of the head, picks them up to put them back inside their cage, and tells me they are harmless. Yeah. I wonder if I gave him a phobia about toothpaste up his nose when he woke up that way the next morning. You guessed it. I don’t talk to that cousin as an adult.

I am afraid of ventriloquist dolls. There’s another story. When I was a kid I thought they were cool (Okay, I was a GEEK but give me a break – I was a kid). I got a Charlie McCarthy doll. I loved him with his suit and little eyeglass. I could throw my voice even. I was proud and (a kid remember – not pathetic) thought it was a neat trick. Of course I have family. You know how they are. Someone had to show me that movie Magic. For those of you in the younger generation = scary movie about a killer doll. Yeah. Now I had my own expensive source of trauma sitting in the corner of my bedroom. He watched me with his beady little eyes. I knew when I turned off my light he was going to grab up my Ken doll to beat me with it or something. Death by Ken doll. NOT pretty! I would lock my CM doll in the closet. I’d put crap in front of it so I knew he couldn’t escape. I told my mom I didn’t want him anymore. GASP! Hey, those things weren’t cheap so yeah…I was STUCK with that damn doll. Every time I walked into my room I’d KNOW he was there lurking inside the closet just waiting to sneak up on me to beam me with a toy. I’d have to check to make sure he hadn’t escaped to hide under my bed. I have an imagination (Author with overactive imagination – you know it) so I’d think up what he could have gotten his evil little doll hands on while I was at school if he’d escaped. Knives, the baseball bat, whatever – and then I’d make sure he was still locked up without weapons stashed – EVERY NIGHT. Finally that doll was given to some other poor sucker, I mean, one of my cousins (not spider one but I would have loved to dump CM on him), but the fear stuck. (Amazing I don’t write horror novels, huh???)

Mr. Laurann rented a movie a few years ago. He used to go and get them. Sometimes he’d call to ask – other times not so much. Guess what he brought home? Yeah. A movie about dolls. Dead Silence is the name of it and you guessed it by seeing the pic of the movie. He looks eerily similar to my CM doll. I of course shook my head NO. I wasn’t going to watch it. No way, no how. If you know me at all, Mr. Laurann could talk me into walking over a bed of fire. I love him that much and he knows how to totally make me do stuff because he’s got husband ninja skills that way. I ended up sitting on the couch (He HAD to turn off the lights BTW) watching it with him. I hope I left bruises when I ended up on top of him, behind him, clutching him, my face buried against him during the worst parts, and I’m STILL traumatized. I had nightmares for weeks. I break out in chills just thinking about that movie to this day. There isn’t enough money to get me to see it again. Mr. Lauran loves to threaten to buy it. Yeah. That’s the day I load up on movies that will make him cringe. I know what his fears are and I’m not afraid to get even if I have to. Checkmate!

I’m terrified of big lizards. Yeah, you know there’s another story. My friend’s brother had a monitor lizard. It’s big. The monitor lizard wasn’t friendly. It hissed at me, bit him hard enough to take a chunk out of skin when he took it out of the cage to show me his ‘baby’, and I think that damn body wash fooled him too because he seemed to think I must be food. (Insert mental image here of me running for my life with a 8 pound lizard chasing me, hissing, and damn… do they move FAST). I made it to the bathroom, slammed the door shut, and that thing hit the door with a thump. I was hoping the impact had knocked it out. Then I hear this hiss and nails on wood and it’s full on attacking the door. I put my back against it and locked it because the door was shaking. (So was I). It took my friend’s brother about five minutes to lure it away (he wasn’t going to pick it up – he’s still bleeding and making sure his finger is intact). He calls out he’s leading it back to its cage. I breathe out in relief and unlock the door, crack it open, and all the sudden I see that thing whip around and here it comes again running full speed at me again. I slam the door and BOOM when it hit. Yeah. I was locked inside that bathroom for an hour before it was safe to come out. It didn’t want to leave. It wanted to bite into me bad enough it refused to budge from trying to claw through the door. NOT a lizard fan after that.

Okay – try not to laugh – or go ahead. I can’t hear you so my feelings won’t get hurt. I’m afraid of toddlers. Yes, I said it. It’s the beginning stage where little adorable people are starting to walk and explore their little worlds. I have four kids and they instilled that fear with the help of others. My first brush with the terrifying toddler came when my oldest daughter was learning to walk. So exciting! (They lure you into a false sense of euphoria and cuteness) and she stumbled over to me where I sat on the couch. She leaned against one of my legs (summer – was in shorts) and bent over. I thought she was going for a toy on the carpet. Nope. She sank like all three of her teeth into my knee. (I mentioned I must have good blood or my body wash must make me seem like food, right?) OMG. It HURT. I checked for blood and yeah, she broke the skin. She laughed when I cried out. It was funny to her! She tried to do it again! They play with toys and suddenly think it’s important to learn the reaction of them nailing you in the face with it as hard as they can. You never see it coming until POW! Pain and sometimes bleeding result from that toy car slamming into your face. (Been there, had it done to me…A LOT). Or they learn to throw things and yeah…you suddenly look like a target to them... and most of them have surprisingly good eye/hand coordination. That’s why so many parents think little Jr. will grow up to be a pitcher on their favorite baseball teams. I have this blonde, wild hair that is naturally curly. I understand why kids may be fascinated with it (adults have been too). It’s kind of frizzy and yeah, not typical for most blondes. The thing is, I’ve yet to hold a toddler who doesn’t try to keep a fistful of it. I watch toddlers now as if they are wild creatures who are really cute…but you don’t turn your back on them. You don’t let your guard down. They can bite, hit, or try to remove stuff that’s a part of you at any given second. They will go for hair, your eyes, or try to rip off your fingernails. They also wonder if your nose really will come off. BTW - STOP playing “I have your nose” with kids…it teaches them BAD things! Those smiles can lure you into a false sense of ‘Awe…I’m so cute I’d never do anything bad like make you bleed just because making you scream is funny to me’ but beware! Toddlers are scary too. I’m just willing to admit my fear. LOL!

I have an odd blog topic today but it began with a phone conversation with a friend of mine recently. We were talking about things we'd purchased lately. I mentioned some of the stuff I bought for my desk. She sighs...LOUDLY before she speaks. "And let's not forget your two foot gargoyle." I can HEAR her eyes roll. "So you now have a werewolf and a gargoyle lamp too? Plus two naked couple sculptures? Seriously? That's what you love to look at? How old are you again? I'm having flashbacks of when you went through that whole black phase where everything was black or blood red or bright splashes of blue." She paused. "At least (insert my ex-boyfriend's name from TWO DECADES AGO) put his foot down and stopped you from painting the walls black." (Do friends EVER forget anything? I think NOT!)

I said... "Don't forget the guy sculpture in the towel I bought. The one that had you drooling, you ran your hands over when you were here after I let you hold it (she molested him, I swear!), and you said your boyfriend would kill you if you displayed something like that inside your apartment. You asked me where I got it from and how much he cost." (Okay, I couldn't help but point out she'd wanted to take my guy home - I saw envy.)

She laughed. "He is nice looking." (Damn straight!) "But don't your kids ever say anything? Doesn't your husband have a fit?"

I thought about it. "My younger kids think the werewolf and gargoyles are cool. They kind of ignore the statues of the guy and the couples." (True) "My oldest daughter doesn't say anything. My husband knows I write erotic romances, I love Gothic stuff, and he encourages me to buy whatever I want. It's my desk. I don't complain about his signed Ducks poster (not of the team but of women with hockey sticks in skirts) over his desk and in fact I've bought him pucks to display."

She goes on to tell me I'm weird. Okay, I can't dispute this. I know it, own up to it, and am happy about it. Who really wants to be 'normal'? I feel it's overrated. When friends joke about how I'm going to go to hell for my twisted sense of humor I always laugh. I would rather spend eternity with people who are more like me than someone I have nothing in common with. Right??? That's the saying I'm sticking to. LOL.

She goes on to list her idea of my strange definition of art. She even brings up my silk and leather stage I went through. I can't really defend that much but let's just say I got weird looks at the time when people entered my apartment to see some of the stuff I bought. Hey, it's personal tastes, right? Yeah. She dragged up the beanie baby stage I went through. I was a collector, had the display cases, and while I donated most of them - some still are hidden inside a chest in my living room. A LOT of people were buying those things though...and they were cute to look at. After I listen for a while I go on the defense.

"Wait a minute," I tell her. "You collect pastel carousal horses." I know I have her. "Is that your version of art? Painted up cutsie little horses that chase each other's tails forever to the tune of elevator music?"

Silence can be golden! I go on. "My werewolves and gargoyles would eat your little pastel horses. I bet your boyfriend would rather look at Dude ( my 2 foot gargoyle ) sitting next to the TV than that damn carousel table you paid a gazillion bucks for. Ask him. I dare you!"

Yeah...she's silent. We both know the answer. "And I bet he'd rather have two naked couples cuddled up on a bookshelf than those stand alone carousel horses you buy. I bet the guys give him shit when they come over. Any guy walking into my house doesn't laugh at my husband." (Okay, I admit I may sound 12 years old here but we've known each other that long so it's easy to revert! LOL)

She's still silent. I smile. BINGO! "Now who's weird?" I remind her of the stages she went through since we're going back TWO DECADES and she started it. She was a lacy, pink fluff girl who had a bedroom any ten year old would preen over with joy... after high school. I asked her how many guys she dated who wouldn't step foot in her room (seriously...doesn't that say it all when you invite a guy to spend the night - he gets a load of where he'd have to sleep with you...and bolts for the door??? - Really happened!). All I ever had was a live-in boyfriend who crossed his arms, shook his head, and told me "Don't paint the walls black, babe. I'll walk into them going to the bathroom in the middle of the night." He wasn't amused when I said I could buy paint that glowed in the dark for the back of the door so he couldn't miss seeing it. (MEN!) She once lived with a guy who she allowed to turn their bedroom into a shrine for...shudder...a horrible band that sucked. And she smiled as if it were cute that he'd want to decorate. (Hated that guy - really - and he was annoying on top of it). And the final nail in the coffin... she loved unicorns for a while. They had glitter on their bodies. She had posters and pictures and cutsy little figures with hearts adorning the room in every direction. Don't think I passed up the chance to remind her. I did since we've started playing 'this was your life'. LOL.

"Okay, maybe your version of art isn't so bad." She gives that to me grudgingly. "And maybe we all are a bit weird when it comes to the things we enjoy looking at."

Yes! (fist punch into the air in victory) My world is right again. I got my best friend off her high carousel horse to admit she's just as weird as I am - just in different ways! LOL! My crazy writing world and A's to Q's

I’m not someone who anyone should probably try to take lessons from. LOL. I recently have talked to a lot of authors via emails. I have to say that they are some of the nicest, most supportive people I’ve ever had the privilege of getting to know. Most of them ask me how I managed to get nine books out last year. They want to know my secret. I’m obsessive, don’t have much of a personal life, and I love to write. I also suffer from insomnia so sleep isn’t something I need in spades, I drink a LOT of iced coffee (total addict), and I can literally keep three or four WIP’s going at once. I don’t suffer from writer’s block. If I get hung up on one book, I just switch to another, and then can later come back at it with a fresh set of eyes to make it move again. That’s the secret I guess. I also really love what I do.

I’m also lucky enough to be at home full time. I have three kids who are all in school and at an age where they are into their own amusement for the most part. That helps. I have a very supportive husband who doesn’t mind going to bed alone while I’m enjoying the writing hours without interruption while they all sleep and he is totally willing to pitch in with the kids and home. We share the cooking duties. He does laundry. It really helps free up more of my time. The hours I put into writing each week would probably shock a workaholic. I love every minute of it. I get a lot of warnings about not burning out. You can’t do that on something you live and breathe. For once in my life I have free license to let my imagination go wild. It’s like spreading my wings and learning how to fly. Amazing!

I’m a series reader so I guess it affects how I write. I want to know about what happens to the friends and family of characters in books I read. I want to know more about their world, what goes on, and how it progresses. When the stories are mine I can ‘make it so’. (Blame Mr. Laurann for the Trekkie humor) I’d like to write a standalone book at some point.

My world sometimes hits bumps. Example? A few weeks ago this storyline that I played with a couple of years ago…popped into my head. It got a tight hold on me, became something that filled all my waking thoughts pretty much, and I opened up a new word document. I started to type. One chapter turned into two…and before I knew it…I’d been hijacked by this story. Total obsession.

It couldn’t have happened at a worse time. I’d been dedicating my time to finishing two books that are close to the end. I wanted to submit one this week. I haven’t touched either of them since this book has taken over my life. I finished it last night so in two weeks I wrote just over 63,000 words in this book. Even for me that’s a feat. I couldn’t believe it could be a good story because to be honest, it came too fast, too easy, and it’s different from my usual stuff. It’s dialog heavy to my mind but I had two people I trust read most of it and they claim to LOVE it! I’m going to edit to clean it a bit and send them the rest…and cross my fingers they love the last few chapters as well.

I hadn’t even finished this ‘hijack’ book yet but the next two books had already formed inside my head. Last night when I cuddled into Mr. Laurann ready to call it a late night at three in the morning… another book popped up. Now I have three more books I want to write to go with ‘hijack’ instead of two. Note to self – STOP thinking ‘what if…’ when I already have way too many projects on my plate!

Is my world crazy? YES. I have way too many stories roaming around in my imagination and they fight it out for dominance on who gets my attention. Now that I’ve finished my obsession…I can return to my two WIP’s it took me away from. I’ll then deal with the books that haunt me demanding to be typed out. Right now there are, seriously, about twelve books stuck in my head. I don’t have enough time, ever, regardless of if I put in sixteen hour days and I do write seven days a week. I’ve refrained from turning to technology to get even more done. An author shared this neat program (can’t remember the name) so you can talk and it dictates your words into the computer. OMG. Can you imagine? I’d be out and about, talking away into a recorder, and people would think… wow, that is one crazy lady who talks to herself! I’d hook it up during those few hours I sleep to get my voiced notes into the computer…wake up to it all on the screen…and it would be as if I worked 24/7. SCARY! Tempting…but no! I am with the kids or Mr. Laurann when I’m away from my computer. I want them to have my full attention.

On top of it all, I wrote for years, have 53 books that sit in a file, and some of them I’d love to rescue. They need updated. I’ve learned A LOT from my talented editors who take the time to teach me my bad habits with every edit so I’m a much better author. I see a huge difference. I write cleaner, I make less mistakes, and it just sounds better. HUGE difference. If anyone out there thinks editors are something they don’t need, think again. They are an author’s best friend even if you dread edits, if they make you flinch, or cringe – even pull out tissues deciding maybe this isn’t something you’re good at. They tell you what works, what doesn’t, and where your weaknesses are. ALL things you need to learn and know.

The trouble is I have so many new projects I want to write…those old files sit. I’ve started to spend at least four hours here and there on them. I sent one of them out to an author friend who was gracious enough to carefully go over that beast to find where it needs help. It’s a BIG book, not an easy task, but she faced it head on. (Authors are fearless sometimes!) It’s also the first book in a nine book series I wrote. That means not only updating that first one and polishing it up but eight more to deal with after that… and if I am being honest, there are six more books in that series that I put on hold when I started my writing career when I wrote Ral’s Woman. Yeah. Fifteen books in all, more stories to tell in that series, so… insane. And we’re not talking a stop at book #15. I’ve been with this storyline of this series for…oh boy…at least a decade. More. Ever heard of an author’s pet project? Their golden child they love the most? I’ll call it N.S series. N.S is my…baby. The characters were my friends, my people, and are real to me. You can’t spend years of your life writing about a subject in your spare time without them becoming a part of you. I know that probably sounds crazy to anyone except an author. I swear I’m not certifiable. I want to launch that series in the future if I’m lucky enough to get them contracted once I have them ready to submit.

I have another file of ‘books I footprinted’ which means there’s anywhere from one to seven chapters down). Don’t ask how many. It would SHOCK you. I had a lot of ideas but no time to really write before I committed to getting published after all my kids were in school. I wrote ALL NEW stuff when I did submit my books. I’ve only updated and reworked one of my old books to try to get it published. That was Mate Set.

What is my version of footprinting a book? Example? The 5^th and 6^th Zorn are partly written. I didn’t want to lose the feel of them although I knew I’d put them on hold after getting four of them published to work on my other series. One of them is half done while another one is about four chapters deep. I can read what is there and literally step right back into the storyline as if I never took a break. It’s why I call it footprinting.

I try to be fair to my series by writing one of each. I made exception in the case of Touching Ice. I couldn’t leave poor Coal in a life pod stuck with Zorus. I finished Ice and wrote right into Coal. To me it wasn’t as if there were two separate books. It was as if I’d kept writing one but changed over character’s stories mid book. It was really fun! Stealing Coal was picked up by Ellorascave but I don't have a release date yet. I WILL get back to Zorn Warriors (I did start those books) but I need to even up some books for other series I have going first. I just don’t know who will win the fight for dominance on who gets headspace after my next four projects. LOL. Kind of a sexy mental image, huh? I hope they are naked when they wrestle it out! Hang on a sec…I’m imagining that…

I get asked what kind of books I used to write before I got published. Werewolves (I have a few series I wrote), a lot of books similar to the Raines, and I wrote standalone books! Imagine that! LOL. I wrote two books about two cousins who live on a Reservation after I spent a little time on one. I wrote a few romances with humor from being raised on a farm (I couldn’t resist – I shoved some true humorous moments of my life in there). I even wrote a few murder mysteries! I wrote a few books about some woman who ends up in danger and finds herself rescued by some sexy hero. SIGH… I love to write those. I wrote one historical western. And the closest thing to science fiction I wrote was my first finished book and the four books that followed it. MAJOR work to ever clean that hot mess up! What inspired me to write it? What else? I thought… 'What if there was an accident with chemical weapons involved…' It took me a year to write my first novel, its 300 and some pages long, and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever find THAT MUCH TIME to rescue it. Think of an editor’s worst nightmare MS with so many errors…yeah…and there you have it! But hey, I finished it and that’s how you start! It sits on my bookshelf in a three ring binder printed out and it makes me smile when I glance at it.

LOL. I truly have been lately. I am so sorry. Between the holidays and writing...life...and everything else my blog has been pretty much abandoned. I am going to try to add a lot more fresh posts.

Thank you soooo much!!! VERY COOL! I really feel floored to even be nominated. An author emailed me to let me know I'd been nominated, they were just putting them up, and I swear I read my name about ten times before it sank in that I actually made a list. As more of them came out and I found my name on a total of three of them...WOW. It's really an honor to be put up with authors who I respect and admire. Blown away...actually...in the best way.

I finished the 5th cyborg book. It's about Coal. I read feedback comments when Touching Ice came out, many of who emailed me to ask about the poor fate of Coal, and if I planned to write his book. I was deep into the story already. I couldn't just leave him in a life pod with Zorus...stranded. I'll let you know when I hear back on it with any official news. I'd hoped to finish the book in early December but there was more story to tell than I had originally thought so it ran about 10,000 words longer than I'd guessed.

Raine on me - the second Riding the Raines book should be getting a release date soon.

In other news...I'm writing. When aren't I? LOL. I'm really a workaholic or should I say write-a-holic. I love it so much that I write every day. I write a few books at a time, it keeps me from getting writer's block. If I get hung up on one book - I just switch WIP's for days or a week at a time, and then come back to another one. I'm hoping - life rarely goes according to plan so keep that in mind, I always do - to submit another book by the end of this month. Since I write more than one WIP at a time...I'm not sure which one will be done first so I'll let you know who wins on which story is finished first. This year I plan to write more books in each series. I may even toss in some surprises this year. Have I mentioned I really LOVE to write? I do!

The other things I have to look forward this year is going to Romanticon 2011. I believe I've mentioned I'm going...a lot...because I'm looking forward to going that much. Last year I had the best time ever there. Everyone was just so wonderful. The workshops were a blast. The people I met were fantastic. I had always heard conferences were stressful but it wasn't that way at all! Ellorascave really went above and beyond to make it a comfortable, fun, relaxed setting. If you can go - really try! You won't regret it. Here's a LINK.

I'm trying to lose the last of my weight I gained. Hard to do when you spend as many hours as I do sitting at a desk. I have lost 50 pounds in all but it's taken me over a year and a half to do it slowly. I've kept it off. That's the good news. The bad news is that last 30 feels more like super glue than extra weight. I'm really motivated although so I'm hopeful to get it gone by my birthday in June. This summer I'd love to pull out my old clothes I've refused to toss away to fit back into. That's the plan at least. I'm hoping stating it makes it so! LOL.

2011 is here and I'm so happy to get started with a brand new calendar. LOL. My plans this year are to write books for the Zorn Warriors, Cyborg Seduction, and Riding the Raines series. It's been a fantastic year for me. At the end of 2009 I had just become published when Ral's Woman was released. I had contracted and had a release date for the beginning of 2010 for the second Zorn series book - Kidnapping Casey. When I wondered what 2010 held for me...even with my wild imagination...I didn't come close to guessing how it would turn out.

I ran across this fantasy art picture that had plot bunnies leaping right into my lap and even though I was a newbie author I took a run at starting a new and second series. I wrote Burning Up Flint and it was picked up. The Cyborg Seduction series launched. I quickly wrote Kissing Steel and Melting Iron. I also learned that I have an obsessive streak when it comes to my love of writing. I was able to release a third and fourth Zorn book as well this year - Tempting Rever and Berrr's Vow. My last release was for the cyborg series - Touching Ice.

If that wasn't enough to keep me busy...LOL...one night a sexy rancher and a lonely widow crept into my thoughts and stayed there until I'd finished writing Propositioning Mr. Raine. He has brothers and blood brothers. That launched a third series - Riding the Raines. I had people ask if I was nuts. I have to admit I knew it was a little crazy to take on three series my first year out as a published author. I'm more than aware that a lot of people wondered if I could handle the pressure. LOL. My answer was writing Mate Set. I wrote it as a standalone though but I left the door wide open for it to turn into a series since that sexy but gruff werewolf has brothers. The response...WOW. Needless to say, I'm writing more books connected to Mate Set in 2011. If they get picked up that will be four series I'll be juggling. I might be certifiable but I'm having a blast running around without a straight jacket. LOL!!! I also wrote the second Riding the Raines book - Raine on me. It got picked up and will be released in 2011! I also had two books come out in print - Loving Zorn (Ral's Woman and Kidnapping Casey in one print book) and Burning Up Flint. Getting to hold a print book in my hand - pretty darn amazing! I feel so darn blessed. Thank you to everyone who has made all this possible. I can't express enough how much it means to me or how happy I am.

On a more personal note this year I became a grandmother. Our children range from ages 19-6. My oldest daughter gave birth to an adorable little boy. He's a living doll. Mr. Laurann and I also attended my first conference - Romanticon was held in Ohio in October. We hadn't taken a trip since we were married a long time ago. I had a fantastic time meeting authors, some of whom I've become friends with, and I met people from Ellorascave who are a terrific group of people. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a wonderful time. My hat off to them and they know how to throw one heck of a conference. To say it had to be the best five days of my life...understatement. We had THE BEST TIME EVER.

We're planning on going again in 2011. You couldn't keep me from going to the next one. LOL. Just being there...amazing and a dream come true. I'd always read the blogs, seen the photos people put up, but to be there myself... AWESOME! Then to my shock I even won my first award ever. I swear I sat there too stunned to move, nearly sliding right out of my chair when the shock made me numb, when they said my name. I probably wouldn't have moved if everyone at my table hadn't reacted to let me know I hadn't been hearing things. LOL. I framed the certificate and I keep my trophy on my desk. I show it off to anyone who ventures inside my home.

Here are some pictures to sum up my year. I hope that everyone has a safe, fun, love-filled holiday and a very happy new year. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping make my dreams come true.

Now about me - I'm gearing up for Christmas. I love this time of year..as long as I get all my shopping done by the beginning of the month. I'm almost done. Today we're putting up the tree and I can finally have closet space again. I can put the wrapped gifts under the tree instead of keeping them hidden. Mr. Laurann has a big Christmas party next weekend so we're really looking forward to that. They go ALL OUT at his work for these things. Nice hotel, OPEN BAR (yeah...that is awesome - free mixed drinks!), sit down dinner, and dancing! Mr.Laurann's mom is driving down to babysit the kids for us. We'll have a blast because we do every year. They really just throw a hell of a nice party for their employees and we really appreciate it.

Yippee! Today is the day that the 4th cyborg book comes out. I'm really excited and nervous. I always feel this way when a book releases. You'd think I'd get use to this wild but fun ride of emotions when a new book comes out - counting ALL my books published this makes the tenth one - but nope. I'm strapped into my seat tightly and ready for it to start again. I wouldn't change it for anything. I LOVE writing. I really hope everyone loves Ice's story in the cyborg series.

Book news...I wrote and submitted the second Riding the Raines book and it was accepted!!! The contract just cleared. When I get a cover and release date I'll be sure to share it. What I can tell you is the title - Raine On Me - and this is about Navarro's brother River Raine (Ryder's twin). I don't have an official blurb but I'll post it as soon as I do!

In other news... the 4th Cyborg book is coming out November 26th! Just over two more weeks to go. I really have a lot of fun writing but I have to admit...cyborgs are at the top of my fun list. I get a lot of laughs when I meet up with tall, gray, and serious...who happen to be sexy. I'm making a book trailer for Touching Ice and will post it on here (I'm estimating) on Monday. That will give me the weekend to finish it. I really love doing them but finding the right music is the hardest part for me. I think I've listened to hundreds of songs in the past few days on the sites kind enough to put up royalty free songs. I appreciate them very much and it's wonderful that I have such a huge selection but that's what is holding up the trailer. LOL.

I have been sick and neglecting my blog. I last left you with the trailer for Berrr's Vow. While I'm sure it was nice...(I made it so I'm bias...LOL) you are probably tired of seeing it. I feel better today after days and days of icky! They call it recovery. I call it feeling well enough now to realize just how crappy this cold really is. : ) I'm getting better, that's all that matters really, and I'll stop whimpering now. Mr. Laurann will be happy when I'm better. He's been a trooper!

Berrr's Vow came out last Friday and I wanted to thank everyone who emailed, left comments on various sites, and messages on facebook. I always worry myself sick when a book comes out. (I think most authors do) I got a lot of warm, wonderful compliments so that was amazing and awesome! YIPPEE!!! I also got asked a lot of questions. I started to make a list of them, tagging the ones I got the most, and thought... AH HA! Blog topic! LOL!!! So here goes...questions and answers!

Q - Are you writing more (insert your favorite series here) books?

A – The easiest way to answer this is to let you know that I have no current end in sight to any series I write. I haven’t mentally put a limit on the number of books. If a story comes to me, if people want to read it, and if I think I can get it out there… I WILL write it. (Okay, if I love a character I’ll write it even if I figure it will never sell but don’t tell anyone that because they’ll think I’m insane. LOL)

Q – When are you writing about (insert the character you really want to read more of - here) and when will it be coming out?

A - I don’t know. I have no control over how fast a book gets written. Really. LOL. I’m a visual/mood person so some books get written faster than others, some slower, but I’m a write-a-holic. I put in a lot of hours typing out stories on my keyboard so you can at least know if you’re anxiously waiting on a certain story that I’m drinking a lot of iced coffee and not getting enough sleep. LOL! I have no control about book release dates either but once I submit them, if the book is picked up, Ellorascave is amazing about getting them out for release quickly.

Q – Where do you come up with your ideas?

A – As I mentioned before, I'm a visual writer. As an example I saw this fantasy dark art picture of this big, muscular warrior type… and my imagination flared into the world of Cyborgs. I love stock photo sites where I spend money regularly. I’ve seen hot pictures of men…and BOOM. He’s suddenly an ex-rodeo star with a damaged soul/body in need of a lonely, good-hearted woman to fix his emotional wounds (Propositioning Mr. Raine). With every book I write…I find some visual stimulation for a character/characters and it’s my screen saver on my monitor while I write the book.

Q – Do you or will you write ménage books?

A – I’m a M/F storyline kind of woman. I read ALL kinds of books, enjoy them a lot, but no, I don’t write them. Would I swear on a bible to never come up with a storyline? No. I NEVER say NEVER but I only go writing where my imagination takes me…and that’s the M/F stories. I don't foresee any right now but again...I won't swear to say never. I will go with 'highly, highly doubtful'. LOL.

Q - You set up certain situations in some of your book/series that imply multi sex partners so that's why I'm asking about the ménage question. Can you explain why you do that?

A –(1) - Let's start with cyborgs. They aren't happy with the way things are. (It’s the law since cyborg females are fewer that they have to share them with other men) They are possessive types of guys who don't want to share...anything. Human women come along and they are considered property. In other words... it's a way to bend their rules about having to share their females in family units so they can have what they want most - their own women. LOL. To me, romances are about finding something you long for most... and cyborgs find that with humans.

A –(2) - Zorns - their culture is different than here on Earth. They don't have the same bonding relationships we have. To be blunt... they don't communicate well. A house helper, as an example, keeps the warriors homes clean, cook, and it’s part of their duty/job to have sex with the men who provide for them. They don't cuddle, don't share their dreams and hopes, or get to really know the men they serve. It's more of an employee/employer situation that keeps their emotion bonds at a minimum. Zorn males are highly sexual, their females aren't, and the Zorn females are actually glad to have other Zorn females in the household to share filling to ALL of a warrior's needs. In walks a human...who wants to KNOW the guy, is interested in his day, and wants him to get to know her. They bond, grow closer, and get attached. I hope that clears that up. Of course the hot sex really helps too! LOL.

This last one wasn't a single question as much as responding to a lot of emails I received about Mate Set. Yes, I SO did that! LOL. I read a lot of books as well as writing them. I think reading/writing walk hand in hand. I read a lot of M/F/M books and sometimes... I wish from the way the characters were written that that extra MALE wasn't tossed in there.

Some Authors do super sexy tie in’s that leave a reader panting and excited. (Awesome, sexy, HOT, and I want to read it!!!) A few authors have a reader squirming but not in the sexy way. I've read uncomfortable sex scenes were I screamed in my head... NO!!!!!!! Don’t do it… you weren’t written to be that way!!!! I wished it would have turned out differently instead of trying to read through sex scenes that I didn't want to read because it was so against the character's personalities. So YES... I did that. I wrote a scene where a woman said NO! I really sweat that decision, worried that it would get cut from the book, (who does a scene like that...right??? Um...me) but my editor and Ellorascave are just... AWESOME... and let me keep it in! LOL. I'm really glad that so many of you wrote in support of it, found yourselves doing mental 'high-fives', and were so happy that things turned out that way in Mate Set.

This Friday the 4th Zorn Warrior book is being released!!! I'm so excited. Of course with getting ready for Romanticon and all the shopping I had to do ( had to buy all new clothes )...then going... (AND I'M GOING AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!) I got a wee bit behind on my stuff like making a book trailer for my upcoming books. Last night I stayed up all night and got the one done for Berrr's Vow. Now...I just need to do Touching Ice - 4th Cyborg seduction book. I will do that one next week and release it then. For now though... coming to you from Zorn ( LOL )....

Home from Romanticon and posting some pics!

I went to Romanticon! I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had so I'm posting a few pictures. My husband has most of them and didn't have time to send them to me yet so I do have more but here are a few I could get to and two are from friends who were nice enough to share photos. Notice those cavemen? HARD not to, right? They are the nicest bunch of men. They really went out of their way to make everyone have a great time so shirts off to them! I mean...hats...yeah...hats. LOL. I figured that's the photo you wanted to see most...the guys. LOL. Ellorascave put on an AMAZING weekend. They really went above and beyond with the parties, the events, the workshops, and everyone was just so darn sweet and friendly. I can't talk up Romanticon enough and do it justice. It was THAT GREAT!!! I'm going next year. There's not even a question about it. LOL. If you're able...I HIGHLY recommend going. You won't regret it. It's a priceless weekend of memories. The hotel staff, EC, the cavemen, all the authors, and readers... anyone there...seemed to be having as much fun as Mr. Laurann and I did. I didn't hear one complaint except no Starbucks in the hotel so coffee was a slight issue. LOL. Some people ( HI VALERIE!!!! THANK YOU!!! Mr. Laurann has your photos on his camera) were absolutely WONDERFUL and made coffee runs for us ice coffee addicts. Here's some photos. I made new friends, finally got to hug V.J Devereaux which I have wanted to do for a LONG time, and of course spending so much time with Mr. Laurann was a great thing. I got to meet some of my favorite authors, talk to them, and meet some friends too that I've made online. Here's 2 of my new friends ( Kathy and Jenny), me getting ready in the room for the Roaring 20's party, and of course...Mr. Laurann and I together.

And last but not least... I won an award! It's kind of a funny story. I never expected to win one. They were calling them out and I was clapping, thrilled that so many people I admire and adore were getting them, having Mr. Laurann rush to go video V.J getting hers because her husband wasn't able to make it ( I'm sending you that video file probably tonight, V) and then they called out my name. Have you ever been so shocked your entire body goes limp? I almost slid right out of my chair and had to grab the table to keep me from doing exactly that. LOL. I even thought I may have heard wrong but then everyone at the table was grinning at me and waving me to stand up. I was so nervous one of the Cavemen held my hand. LOL! I took a picture of it and the trophy. Another funny story but I had taken 3 plastic contains in my suitcase and when I arrived at the hotel to unpack...2 of the bottoms of the containers were smashed apart so I carried my trophy home IN my purse, guarding it with my life against it ending up like those containers. It's safely on my desk now. Here's a picture of it. It was a fantastic trip, I had a blast with Mr. Laurann, but that was just the icing on the cake. Thank you to everyone at EC and to everyone who reads my books!!! I wrote and thanked my editors too! LOL. Mr Laurann was nice enough even to ask Caveman Angelo to sign a copy of Burning Up Flint for me since he's on the cover and he did! VERY COOL!

In other news... I'm off to Romanticon next week with Mr. Laurann. My bags are packed! Yes, I'm very excited if my admitting I'm ready to walk out the door a week in advance tells you anything. I'm cleaning up my house so when I hand over the house keys and hand off the kids to her... she's fooled into thinking it's going to be easy. LOL! No, they are great kids... when someone else is watching them... so I expect them to be on their best behavior when she moves in to care for them. Three kids and three cats... WOW. She used to be a police officer so I know she was trained to handle riots so yeah... I have complete confidence that she will do great. I'm actually not worried at all. I should feel guilty for that but as Mr. Laurann pointed out... we haven't been on a trip since we were married. Okay, guilt moment over and so ready to get on that plane! I do think I've over thought everything when I've made pages of notes for her including to make sure my son actually brushes his teeth because his idea of 'brushing' is putting toothpaste on and smearing the brush on the counter to paint pictures.

My son is sick so he stayed home from school today. He didn't get much sleep last night so...I didn't either. I finally got him to lay down today so I decided to take a nap too while he rested. I slept but he just lay in bed watching TV. When I woke up ( My son came out to tell me he was hungry where I'd crashed on the couch) I fixed him some lunch and checked my emails. There it was! Burning Up Flint is in print!!! Let's just say that for a day that started out with coughing, sneezing, and crankiness... it really made my day! LOL.

In other news...the countdown is on for Romanticon! I'm soooooo very excited to go. I have started to write out more notes to the person who is going to move into my home and step right into my MOM shoes while I'm out of town. I keep thinking of more stuff. Funny, little stuff. You know...double check that the kids actually brush their teeth because some mornings they SAY they brushed but didn't.... LOL. One of my kids should be famous for forgetting to grab a jacket on cold mornings. Another one likes to forget homework. I have this mental 'before we go out the door' list I go over every school morning as I get them out the door to drive them to school. I had to write that down today. I also realized that I don't know where the main gas emergency shut off valve is on my home. I know where the water one is since we had a pipe go once so yeah... I KNOW that one! I know how to cut the power from the outside box but gas??? I have to find that out. LOL. I also remembered to tell about where I hide the key to the under the sink cupboard ( I keep all my dangerous to kids cleaners locked up under there). I doubt they are going to have a sudden urge to clean my home but it's better to leave that key where it can be found in case of a leak or something ( crossing my fingers that doesn't happen since it already did there and I got that fixed! LOL). I'm even making a secondary set of keys made for a neighbor to have just in case of accidental house lock out or if the keys get locked inside the mini van. ( Think I've over thought this??? LOL!)

I'm also gearing up for my son's birthday party. He's my only boy and the baby. He hates cake ( I know... right??? LOL) so he wants chocolate chip cookies instead. I thought of the cookie cake but he doesn't like those. He just likes regular ole chocolate chip cookies and pizza so that's going to be easy. And he's a balloon lover so I'm going to pick up a bunch of those. One of my daughters doesn't like cake either. She always asks for donuts on her birthday. ( Okay... I have weird kids but I sure love them!!!). I bought all of my son's gifts but I still need to wrap them. I was going to do that today but he was home sick. If he's better tomorrow and goes to school... that's on my to do list first thing in the morning after I drop them off there. The party is a week from Saturday. I'm not sure what he's going to love the most... the wiggles dolls ( they are boys...he loves that show...they sing to Mr. Laurann's extreme annoyance because my son already owns one that he just LOVES...and I bought all of them on Ebay since they no longer make them...LOL) or the toy computer he's getting. We'll see. Today he saw a Buzz Lightyear action playset thing on TV that he went insane over so I might be rushing to a toy store on Friday to see if they have that.

In other news... the 4th Cyborg Seduction book - Touching Ice... will be getting a release date soon. My fingers are crossed for November! Here's the cover for it. I don't have the official blurb yet but I'll post it when I get it.

Mate Set, which came out earlier this month, I had down as a stand alone book. Thank you to everyone who has written emails to me and who have left comments on various sites asking for books about his brothers. I have some open WIPS (works in progress) that I plan on finishing up and submitting but now I'm planning on writing about Grady's family! I really look forward to it so thank you so much for asking because I'll sure write them!!! LOL.

I love to write various stories, I have a bit of a wild imagination, and I'm a write-a-holic! LOL. I have been asked if I'm going to write more stories for Zorn and about the cyborgs. The answer would be a BIG YES! LOL. I'm currently working on a Raine story ( Riding the Raines series), a Zorn book, and a cyborg book. I have more books planned for each of those series.

I laugh when I get emails asking me to write faster. You have no idea what kind of crazy hours I put in writing every week but I love every moment of it. I contracted nine books in a year's time and ten books if you do a 13 month calendar. That's a whole lotta books to write in that period. I can assure you that I'm logging in about an eighty hour a week schedule and I'm going to get to the stories of your favorite characters that you want to see books about ( Vhon and Coto from Zorn - and Coal (cyborg) are asked about the most). I'm loving every second I'm writing them and I really have fun doing what I do. I feel blessed. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for me to share the worlds that I daydream about!

Last but not least... I'm preparing for a big trip. Mr. Laurann is escorting me to Ohio in less than three weeks to go to Romanticon! (LINK) I'm so excited!!! Not only do I get to meet other authors who I'm a huge fan of...I get to meet some people who have read my books face to face. I'm so ready to board that plane and start this adventure. We're lucky enough to have a family member who is going to step into my shoes at home and play maid, mom, driver, and cook to our children while we're gone. I'm leaving the keys to my mini van, our home, and pages of instructions. LOL! I'm hoping they are nice to her and don't tie her to a chair or something!!! (I'm kidding ...they'd probably glue her there.... LOL!!!)

It's Official!!! Ellorascave picked up the 4th book in the Cyborg Seduction Series. Touching Ice - is Ice's story. If you read Melting Iron... you know Dawn teased Iron about visiting that floating space whorehouse that hosted artificial sex bots. Well, that got me thinking about how other cyborgs might visit the Folion as well... and begins Ice's story! LOL. I had soooo much fun writing this one!!! Megan is a programmer on the Folion and that's all I can say for now. LOL.

I'm writing the 5th one right now ( One of the WIP's I'm working on ). The next book will be about Coal. I have more books planned for this series and the other ones! I have such a blast writing that I almost feel guilty for being so happy in my life. LOL!!! Almost!

I have other projects going on. Berrr's Vow should be getting a release date any day now and of course... new book cover will be coming out for it. Mate Set comes out a week from tomorrow!!! You can see how I do with werewolves. The thing is that if you read my blog at all...you know I spent over 15 years writing in my spare time before I got published and I ended up writing 54 novels. A big portion of those books were werewolf stories. Mate Set was one of them ( my favorite ). I cleaned it up, wrote entire new chapters for it, and submitted it with fingers crossed. I have neglected my poor blog! I've been one busy author. With summer... I have kids home so that's taken up a lot of my time. I also made a trailer for Mate Set. WOW do I love making them. I get to buy stock photos and play with them. I'm getting better with those photo editing programs. ( I hope anyway!!! ) I got sick last month so I was really behind on where I wanted to be on my writing. I've been playing catch up. I also have been preparing for Romanticon! I'm sooooo excited to be going. This is my first convention. Mr. Laurann and I haven't taken a vacation since we got married in 1996 so I pretty much have had to buy...everything. A suitcase. A make-up bag. Clothes. Shoes. ( I only owned a few pair...I usually run around bare foot unless I drive somewhere - I don't get out much! LOL). I'm still shopping for a coat. I doubt my lightweight one will do in Ohio in October. I was raised in Indiana so I'm thinking back to my childhood... and I know I need something thicker than what I have. Yeah. I also have been writing up a storm. I finished the 4th Cyborg Seduction book - Touching Ice. I submitted it. I even made a banner for it to put on my website. I'm hoping to have some official great news to announce really soon about that!!! I had a LOT of fun with that book. When I can release a blurb...you'll understand. ( I'm being a tease...LOL ) It was just...a BLAST to write. That's all I can say for now. It starts with a BOOM! LOL. I've had a few people ask me how I come up with my ideas. They just hit me and this one... FUN! It was one of those...what if??? I will give you this hint. If you read Melting Iron...you know Dawn teased Iron about artificial women. Well...that's all I can say! LOL.

In other news...I got my edits for Berrr's Vow - the 4th Zorn Warrior book!!! That means release date is going to be coming...brand new cover to show off...and for everyone who asked for a story about Hyvin Berrr...I wrote this book because of you. I never planned to write it. Readers left comments at Ellorascave about him, wishing for a book featuring him, and there you have it. I got inspired to tell his story when it came to me. That one was really great to write. He leads the planet Zorn, he doesn't understand the draw of human women, is a little frustrated that three of his sons have hooked up with those 'weak' alien human women...so you KNOW he's about to get his world turned upside down! LOL. So... hopefully I'll be able to shout out the release date for that soon!!!

There will be MORE Zorn, Cyborg, and Raines books!!! I'm working on them, a few are close to being finished, and I'll submit them when they are all wrapped up. As I said...I got sick, that flu/allergy thing kept me down for a few week...it was nasty...but I'm all better now. My kids are starting school in a few weeks so I will have more time to write since I'm home and they won't be during school hours. LOL. So...now we're all caught up! Life is great. I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer...but I'm SOOOO ready for it to be OVER! It is too hot! LOL.

I have a cover for Mate Set!!!

Today was a wonderful day for two reasons. I got the new cover for Mate Set!!! I love the cover. Whooo Hoooo! I have to say that I feel super lucky when it comes to covers. LOL. Mate Set is my werewolf stand alone book coming out Sept 3rd. I've gotten emails and people have asked me if it's going to be a series. To tell you the truth... he's got brothers. Sexy, single ones...so depending on how it goes...it could be a series. If it does well I would be happy to write more of them.

Speaking of more... I am working on a Zorn book, submitted the 4th Cyborg book, working on the 5th, and am close to submitting another Raine book... and have chapters completed, more than a few, on other books in each of those series. So... if you have a favorite series... I'm working on more books.

In other news... I should be releasing some good news in the near future and one of those topics is a release date for Berrr's Vow - the 4th Zorn book. I will give away a little tidbit. In Berrr's Vow, if you are a big fan of Ariel and Ral...and wonder what's happened to them since we left them last...you're going to want to read this book! LOL. Of course I can't wait to see the cover for it too.

In MORE news - Loving Zorn hit print this week! YIPPEE!!! Very cool. Today I got a copy in the mail and Awesome!!! Notice the gargoyle? That's DUDE!!! He keeps me company late at night while I'm writing. It's really cool getting your book in print. It's a WOW moment to see your name on it and know YOUR story is inside it ( 2 of them in my case - Ral and Argernon's stories ). So yeah...way cool. I feel very blessed.
